Dear Editor Zhang,

I am glad to write to you on English study. In my opinion, it is necessary for Chinese to learn English.

Firstly, English is the official language of some developed countries. If we want to make a rapid progress, we must know how to communicate with them. Without doubt, English can help us.

Secondly, China has developed a lot in recent years. In order to know the world and make the world know China at the same time, We need to be able to communicate with the outside world in English.

Thirdly, the technology in China is not so advanced in some fields as that of some English-speaking countries. We should study English so as to learn from them.

In conclusion, we should learn English because it can benefit us in many ways.
