【题目】Before I studied psychology, I used to think that people would laugh when funny things occurred. While I was right about that, I discovered there are lots of other psychological factors that make people laugh other than the funny part of a joke. When someone laughs at a joke, there will usually be more than one reason that makes him laugh—and the more reasons there are, the more powerful the joke will be.

I was attending a stand-up comedy show in Egypt, and when the man started to make fun of pedestrians crossing streets, everyone laughed their hearts out. The main reason those people strongly laughed was that almost all of them felt angry towards pedestrians who crossed streets carelessly. The joke wasn’t only funny, it also made the audience feel that they were right about being angry at those pedestrians. That is, people were laughing both because of the funny joke and because of the happiness experienced as a result of the psychological support they got.

The better a joke makes a person feel, and the more it includes other psychological factors, the more the person will like it. For example, if you envy one of your friends, and someone tells a joke that is funny and, at the same time, makes your friend seem stupid, then you will probably laugh at it louder than if you weren’t jealous of him.

In short, we don’t laugh only when we hear something funny; we also laugh when we experience some kind of happiness that results from the other psychological factors involved in the joke. I strongly discourage making fun of anyone orbelittlingsomeone to make someone else laugh. All I want to explain is that if your joke supports a person’s emotions, he will certainly like it a lot.

【题目】阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。

After years of study,I have known there are only two types of people in this world:those who get to the airport early and those who arrive as the plane is about to take off.

If there were any justice in this world, the earlyairport people would be rewarded for doing the right thing and the lateairport people would be punished. But the earlyairport people get ulcers(溃疡),heart attacks and bite their fingernails to the bone (急得团团转).The lateairport people are hardly aware that they are flying.

A guy of that kind once said,“Don’t hurry. If you miss your flight,it’s because God didn’t want you to go.”This is clearly a guy who is never going to get an ulcer.

Earlyairport people suffer another“name”.They are called exactly what they are—wimps(懦夫).I know I am an earlyairport person for years. My luggage will get on the plane first, which makes it the last luggage they take off the plane after landing.

Another strange thing:No matter how early I showed up,I was always told that someone had called two or three years ahead of me and asked for the best seat.I figured it was a trick.I figured there was someone in America who called every airline every day and said,“Is that wimp Simon flying somewhere today? If he is,give me his seat.”

After a lifetime arguing with my wife over whether I really have to pack 24 hours in advance and set the alarm clock four hours ahead,I have learned another fact about earlyairport people and lateairport people:

They always marry each other.

【题目】Parents often assume that time spent with their kids will gradually decrease in adolescence. But a new study suggests that while teens try to avoid spending a lot of time together with their parents, private parent-child meetings may actually increase in their early adolescent years. And that may raise a teenager’s self-esteem (自尊) an social confidence, especially if it is time spent with Dad, the researchers added.

The researchers created a long-term study in which they invited families in 16 school districts in central Pennsylvania to participate. In each family, a teenager, a younger sibling, their mother and their father were interviewed at home and then asked about their activities and self-worth five times over a period of seven years.

The study authors were surprised to discover that when fathers spent more time alone with their teenagers, the kids reported they felt better about themselves. Something about the father’s role in the family seemed to improve self-esteem among the teenagers in the study, said study author Susan McHale, a professor of human development at Pennsylvania State University.

“Time spent with Dad often involves joking, teasing and other playful interactions. Fathers, as compared to mothers, were more involved in leisure activities and had more friend-like interactions with their children, which is crucial for youth social development,” the study showed.

But Marta Flaum, a psychologist in Chappaqua , New York, said, “How these findings reflect the real world is a real question. The sample in the study is so small and so unrepresentative of more families in the country today that I’m not sure how much we can generalizing from it. In my community, in Westchester County, I don’t see parents and teenagers spending much time together at all. Parents are often working so hard and have less time to be together with their kids.”

However, Flaum encourages parents tom make time for their kids no matter how much work they have to do. “Research like this reminds us of how importantitis. The time we have with them is so short, ” she said.

A. their social skills will be improved

B. their fathers will better understand them

C. they will be willing to help their siblings

D. their family will spend more time together

2What is Flaun’s attitude towards the findings of the study?
