It is good to see that more people have realized the important of exercising and are playing sports regularly. But the problem is that there is not enough sports facilities to meet the people growing demand. I love playing the basketball with my friends on weekends. Therefore, it is difficult to rent a basketball field and possible to find a free one. And the charge is highly. Weather permitted, we can play outdoors. But winter or rainy days, we have to turn to indoor courts. I hope the government can solve the problem that will encourage more people to do sports.

第二句 is改成are;people改成people’s

第四句 Therefore改成However;possible改成impossible

固定句式There be…

When the young horse Daisy May came to us, she was pregnant (怀孕的). With no related experience, I was unprepared for what might come next.

After some difficulty, Daisy’s baby was born. I heard a gurgling noise. I couldn’t believe that baby was breathing and blinking his big brown eyes at me! We called him Samson, and of course I became his mother as much as Daisy was. I prepared to bottle-feed him, but Samson quickly found his natural food source. Thank God! This new mother was going to stay with her baby.

Samson has grown up surrounded with loving companions. I had to separate Daisy and Samson for a few hours a day when he was nine months old to wean (使……断奶) him, but otherwise he goes wherever she does. I think she would be lost without him. His horse stepdad Bernard taught him to always be ready to have fun. They enjoy playing football together and going for a roll on a hot summer day.

I asked a worker to make a harness (马具) for my three little horses. When I brought it home I taught them one by one how to pull a cart. Samson watched and freely followed Daisy. When he was three, I put the harness on him and he knew exactly what to do.

The most exciting thing about Samson is that he has become a little famous for his talents. Last winter, I wondered how Samson would feel about dragging a plastic sled behind him with me sitting on it. No problem at all- we moved smoothly across the snow.

People came from all over to see him perform.

A light knock on the door brought me from my kitchen. Because we had just moved into the neighbourhood, I couldn’t imagine who it would be. Opening the door, an old man stood there, who was dressed in dirty clothing and wearing dirty rubber boots. His hand hung a plastic bag.

“Can I help you?” I asked.

“Would you like to buy some fresh garden vegetables?” His blue eyes were hopeful.

“Are they from your garden?” I looked inside his plastic bag and saw some carrots with soil.

“Yes,” His voice was soft. “And I can get some apples from a tree in my yard. Would you like some of those, too?”

My heart softened, and I wondered if he is badly in need of the bit of money. With a sigh, I said, “Please step inside and I’ll get my money.”

The next day, he knocked at our door again. This time, my little four-year-old daughter got there first. “Oh, hello. Would you like to come in for tea?" Without a second thought, the old man stepped inside and held out a broken basket with several bruised (擦伤的)apples. “From my tree,” he said, removing a worn cap. “You might like to make a pie. ”

The three of us sat at the kitchen table and drank our tea. It was obvious that my daughter liked hosting a visitor in her never-ending questions. “What is your name? Where do you live? Why are your clothes so dirty?”

The homeless-looking man laughed as he answered each question. His name was Mr. Locket and he lived around the corner. His wife had passed away several years before, and his children all lived far away. He was lonely. His need for company had sent him door to door selling fruit and vegetables. Ours was the only door opened to him that day.

注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;

2.应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;

3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已经为你写好;

In 1971, UN scholar Paolo Lugari started an eco-social experiment in Gaviotas, Colombia. Located in one of the most extreme climates, Gaviotas was described as a sustainable, self-sufficient village in an area that Lugari called ‘just a big, wet desert’.

‘They always put social experiments in the easiest places,’ Lugari said.’We wanted the hardest place. We figured if we could do it here, we could do it anywhere.’

‘Lugari just thought that someday the world would become so crowded that humans would have to learn to live in the planet's least desirable areas,’ wrote Alan Weisman, author of Gaviotas: A Village to Reinvent the World.

Today, Gaviotas is an eco-village with about 200 people. They farm organically. They use wind and solar power. Since 2004, Gaviotas has been 100% fossil fuel independent. The residents also enjoy free housing, schooling, and community meals. Shockingly, there are no weapons, no police, no jail and no mayor. But though these elements would make any social experiment a success, perhaps the most remarkable accomplishment is the planting of 1.5 million pine trees and palm trees. The various results of this new tree growth have been incredible. The shade of the trees has inspired the return of many rainforest species that were once native to the region. Additionally, the residents of Gaviotas enjoy a sustainable source of income from the resin(松香) harvested from the trees.

The United Nations named Gaviotas a model of sustainable development. The Colombia novelist and Noble Prize winner Grabriel Marquez called Lugari the ‘inventor of the world’.

A new study by a team of researchers has found that ‘nature's capacity to store carbon is steadily falling as the world's farmers expand croplands at the cost of the native ecosystem such as forests’.

Considering this disturbing fact—and as the world population increases towards an estimated 9 billion by the year 2050 and global warming continues to increase the planet's surface temperature—Gaviotas stands as one shining example of how things could be different.

There are many barriers on the way to success. Fortunately, most of them can be overcome 1 I'd like to show the four most important strategies I know to overcome success barriers.

1. Decide what success means to you.

Everybody wants success. For some, success means making a lot of money for others it means having great relationships with great people. If you're not clear on what success means to you, you're going to chase an unclear version of success, which constitutes a major barrier in achieving it. 2 You're never going to catch it.

2. Look at the barrier as an outsider.

Imagine that the goal you want to reach is not yours — it's someone else's. And the obstacle that prevents reaching it is theirs as well. And as an outsider, you have a taste for problem solving. 3 It's like seeing your situation with new eyes, and often you'll be amazed at the resolutions you'll see with these new eyes.

3. Inform yourself.

4They have a good comprehension of the situation and the obstacle, so it's easy for them to see appropriate ways to overcome it. How to do these? By constantly learning, especially in the areas where you want to achieve performance, and keeping yourself very well informed.

4. Keep trying.

I find that many people don't overcome obstacles because they only try one or two ways to overcome it, and if these don't work, they give up. In order to overcome the obstacle, you'll need to try several solutions, and move from one to another based on the results you get. 5

A. It's like chasing a ghost.

B. Eventually you'll find the best solution.

C. It's not always easy, but it's almost always possible.

D. Give this strategy a try in dealing with obstacles you face.

E. If a solution doesn't solve your problem, look at the problem again.

F. The people who are best at overcoming success obstacles are very well informed.

G. Well-informed persons must get information from many different news resources.
