I just come back from Britain last week. I was luckily enough to be one of the student from different countries to visit the UK from Feb. 16 to 28. We paid a visit to many places, like London, Oxford or the Lake District. I learned much about British culture and history in London, where was my favorite. I also liked Oxford, in which I saw much more old buildings. The Lake District was beautiful, but it was pity that it rained heavily when they were there. The most excited thing for me in the Britain was that I made a lot of friends there.

"It took me a year to complete, all at night.I used almost 500 liters of paint. It was the biggest illegal graffiti(涂鸦)piece ever.

These are the words of a man named Saber from the United States.Saber is talking about a piece of colourful graffiti that he painted in Los Angeles.Saber did not have permission for this painting. It was on city property. Was the graffiti a piece of art?Or was Saber a criminal because he painted it illegally?

Abdal Ullah,a councilor in London, told TIMES magazine,"Graffiti is a crime. It ruins the environment. It makes our neighborhoods feel less safe. And it costs thousands of pounds each year to clean."

Graffiti artists often use high technology paint. This is hard to remove or paint over.Large cities spend millions of.dollars a year to remove graffiti.Graffiti is also often done in places where other criminal behaviour takes place, including violence and the use of illegal drugs.

Some people say that some kinds of graffiti can be considered art.Saber from Los Angeles said,"My painting shows 22 years of intense art making. And I think art is the number one goal for myself.Graffiti is the way I learn.Art gets a bad name because it is considered something only for a few people in society. It is seen as something only a rich or highly educated person can understand. And that is not true.Every single child in the world drew a picture once and had that excitement."

Luckily, there is a group called Writerz Blok in San Diego,California. They set up 12 walls where people can legally paint graffiti.Marcus Tufono, who works at Writerz Blok, explains,"Our goal is to move the illegal graffiti to a legal wall, and then put it on a computer screen and some software,so hat they can take their art and use it around the community. Then graffiti artists have a chance to succeed through their art."

A. it was painted at night B. it was on public property

C. its creator was a criminal D. it was of poor quality

2.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?

A. The advantages of graffiti. B. The bad effects of graffiti.

C. The cost of removing graffiti. D. The materials used for graffiti.

3.Which statement may Saber agree with?

A. Graffiti is a type of art.

B. Only a few people understand art.

C. Graffiti is not a good way to create art.

D. Children should be encouraged to draw graffiti.

4.According to the last paragraph, people working at Writerz Blok .

A. help artists paint graffiti legally

B. encourage people to paint graffiti freely

C. punish people for painting graffiti

D. remove illegal graffiti in their city

One day after we moved to our farm, I found that two of the neighbor’s cows and a calf had wandered through the fence along our woods. The neighbor, Lorne Wright showed up with his dog to herd them back into his grassland—and with part of a roll of nine-wire fence.

"There’s probably enough to reach from the road to the first brace post if you were of a mind to fix this spot," he said. My face lit right up. I wanted to be a good neighbor, but money was tight.

The next week I was pulling the old fence out of the tall grass when Bill Risk stopped his car. He said,

"Fixing fence, are you? Hear a story? A long time ago, two fellows farmed next to each other, so they agreed that each would start building fence on opposite ends of their farms and meet in the middle."

"When they finished, one said, ‘Well, it looks good.’ But the other said, ‘My half looks good, because I started where I should have, but you started your half about 2 feet over on my farm and I want it moved right away!’"

"Well, these two fellows, who could have been good neighbors, began to get angry with each other, and the bitterness went on for years. Finally one man sold his farm, and no sooner had the new owner moved in than his neighbor paid him a visit. "

"He said, ‘There has always been a problem with our line fence. Your half begins 2 feet over on my farm. It should have been moved a long time ago.’ The new neighbor thought for a moment, then said, ‘I always intend to be a good neighbor. If you think the fence is on your farm, you move it to wherever you think it should be, and you’ll never hear a complaint from me.’"

"They became good friends. And the fence was never moved. So keep that fence straight, neighbor," Bill went away, leaving me with a smile on my face as I went back to work.

Fear of Puberty(青春期)

When young people get to puberty, it causes the physical and mental changes that can bring stress and even fear to them. 1

Consider how often you worry about it. If it regularly happens more than twice a day, it’s time that you started taking the problem seriously. You should look out for feelings of panic when you think about puberty. You may have frequent stressful dreams or feel depressed when you notice changes in your body. 2 By identifying them, you can start to do something about them.

3 If you have had a happy childhood it’s natural to feel sad that it’s coming to an end. Many aspects of adult life can be fearful, but remember that you don’t have to face them all at once.

Apart from these, some teenagers worry about putting on weight or feel discomfort with how people treat them or feel their body doesn’t fit them. Remember that this fat is usually temporary. 4 If you feel stressful, find help from your teachers.

Besides parents, teachers and school medical staff, there are a number of other places where you can seek help. ____8___ Your doctor can provide support on body issues and you can insist on seeing the doctor alone if that makes it easier.

You are not alone in your feelings. There are ways to deal with many of the specific problems puberty can cause. The sooner you seek help, the sooner it will get better.

A. Get into the habit of focusing yourself.

B. You should know the source of your stress.

C. These feelings shouldn’t be a cause of worry.

D. You may feel grief at the passing of childhood.

E. Exercise and healthy eating will help you rid it sooner.

F. You can turn to Childline at any time of the day or night.
