Some slang words-informal language used more commonly in speech than in writing-were also added,like wassup,a shortened way to say"What's up".Even words that have been in use for many years like biker and happy camper were finally added to the dictionary.
The Oxford English Dictionary now defines more than 600,000words.That adds up to more than 21,730pages!Guinness World Records calls it the longest dictionary in the world.The Oxford English Dictionary is known for recording words of all kinds-popular,outdated,and even foreign words used by English speakers throughout the language's long history.

6.After years of suffering headaches and poor digestion I spoke to a neurologist about my regular headaches and a nutritionist about my poor digestion,and they both told me I should be drinking up to three litres of water a day for my body to function at its best.I decided to conduct an experiment.What would happen if I drank the recommended amount every day for a month?
The photograph of me taken the day I started this trial demonstrates perfectly-and rather frighteningly-what a lack of water does to a face.I am 42,but have to admit I look more like 52 in this picture,which is shocking.There are dark shadows under and around my eyes,which make me look exhausted,a lot of wrinkles and strange red blotches(疹斑),and my skin lacks any lustre(光泽).It looks dead.These symptoms are all evidence of poor hydration,apparently.Every system and function in our body depends on water.
So I decided to see how I would look and feel if I drank three litres of water every day for 28days.The results were astonishing.Three litres of water sounds like an awful lot.I visited my doctor to be sure there could be no adverse health implications to increasing my water intake.He was very encouraging.I'm enjoying lots of cups of tea.
After four weeks,the results were astonishing.The dark rings and wrinkles under my eyes have disappeared.I really can't believe the difference in my face.I look like a different woman.My skin is almost as dewy as it was when I was a child.My flexibility has also greatly improved.I feel more energetic,leaner and healthier,and my friends tell me I look ten years younger.

9.Around four years ago,I received a call from the principal of our school as to the"Parents View"talk the next morning. He asked me to speak to the group. After the call,I became feverish and panicky. The time from his call to the next morning seemed like years. The whole night,I could not sleep with many ominous apprehensions in mind. One of them was to call the principal with regret and tell him that I could not come. Finally,I gathered some courage.I thought,"If I miss this opportunity, surely the school will never invite me again to any of their programs."

After delivering it successfully,I became more confident.I said to myself,"If I can speak in front of such a learned audience, like the principal who educates others,I can now speak in front of others too."
