A conference on the protection of the cultural relics in Guangzhou was held in Guangdong Museum on December 25^th 2011. This conference was sponsored by Guangzhou Bureau of Cultural Affairs and present at the conference were historians, experts in cultural relics and the leaders concerned from the Guangzhou Government. This conference aimed to decide which cultural relics in Guangzhou should be protected and how to protect them. With all the efforts of the participants, the conference has not only identified a series of cultural relics which need to be protected but also has made clear the role of the government and that of the non-governmental organizations. In addition, the participants of the conference suggest that the government should get all citizens involved in the protection of the cultural relics.
