【题目】请阅读下面这段文字,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章。

How much money should I spend each month? This is asked by college students at the start of every term, and it’s become a hot topic of discussion following a controversial online post. The post was about a college student who demanded 4,500 yuan for monthly living expenses from her mom, reported China Daily

In the post, this new college student explained that her school is in a top-tier city and that her expenses included skin-care products and new clothes. Her mother did not agree and “only” gave her 2,000 yuan.

The post started a heated debate. Some people came to her defense. Girls invest a lot in skin-care products and new clothes while boys invest much in shoes, latest electronic devices and equipment for games.

However, someone thinks 4,500 yuan is too much. According to a 2019 report, students in 15 cities spent more than 1,500 yuan a month on average. Beijing topped the list at 2,400 yuan, and Shanghai followed close behind at 2,300 yuan. In some cities, a parent may only earn a monthly salary of 4,000 or 5,000 yuan. Nevertheless, some students insist on buying Dyson vacuum cleaners (吸尘器) for their dormitories instead of common brooms. Others demand Apple laptops to study at Starbucks, instead of going to the library.

【题目】 As part of his role in the Air Force Volunteer Reserve, John Lewis often visited military schools. But it was at a London school in 2014 that an accident happened. He had 11 operations in total and it was two years before he could walk again.

Although John improved physically, he couldn’t recover from what had happened. John was diagnosed with post -traumatic (创伤后) stress disorder (PTSD), but none of the treatment seemed to help. Then last year, at a hospital, a doctor told him a puppy (小狗) could manage stress and might help with his anxiety.

In May 2019, they adopted a black puppy called Gibson. He says, “I'd never thought of it as a comfort. After just a few weeks, I could feel myself improving. If I was feeling anxious, he would jump up on the sofa and sit on my chest and I found that really relaxing and comforting. Wherever I go, he will follow me and it’s really helpful to my anxiety. We go out and play Frisbee (飞盘) and I now look forward to going out for walks while I would always make excuses to stay in the house before.”

His wife Anna has also noticed a difference. She says, “Gibson is an incredible dog that adores John. He is a fantastic companion. It has given him a focus and a lease on life.”

John is now. taking part in Generation Pup, a groundbreaking study that tracks puppies through adulthood to learn how their early experiences and environment affect their development. John says, “I really enjoy tracking this through the study, watching his personality begin to grow and support me on my road back to mental health, which he is playing a big part in.” “Gibson has done so much for me in a short space of time. 【题目】阅读下面,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。(满分25)

Christine closed the door to Anna’s room. Inside, her classmate and friend had fallen asleep.

Downstairs, Christine’s mom, Donna, was grasping Anna’s mother Sheila around the shoulders.

“We should go,” she said. “Get some rest, huh?” Sheila nodded, blew her nose, and then waved them goodbye.

On the car ride home, Christine worked up the courage to ask the question on her mind. “Mom? Why was Sheila weeping?” She thought she knew the answer, of course: Anna’s cancer. In the past, Anna had been the neighborhood do-gooder, always going door to door for various causes: the local animal shelter, suffering children in Africa, or the families who’d lost their homes to fire. Now Anna could barely feed or dress herself. Christine thought it so unfair when bad things like this happened to good people.

“Well, it’s complex, but I guess you’re old enough to understand.”

“Understand what?”

“Understand that Anna is sick, yes, but Anna actually gets a lot of help. The government helps pay for a lot of her medicine. She gets meals delivered to her by a nonprofit. She even gets massages from local volunteers.”

“Wow!”

“Her life’s still very hard, of course, and no one would trade places with her, but when you have cancer, everyone can see that you need help, “continued Donna.” They don’t always see that the people around you are suffering.”

“People like Sheila?”

“Yes, did you know that Sheila took a break from her job to stay home with Anna?”

“No!” Christine was surprised. She had never thought about who took Anna to her appointments, or fed her when she was too weak to lift a spoon. Of course it was her family.

“Yes. So that means that many of the things they used to do with that extra money are all out the window now. They’re even worried now about keeping the house.”

“Their house? So Anna might have to move, while she’s sick?”

“If she doesn’t get better soon, and the bills keep piling up...” Donna pulled into the driveway, and just in time. Her cheeks were shining with tears.

【题目】Four simple ways to stay positive

Trying to stay positive, both in good times and bad, is a great way to improve your quality of life. Try these four methods on a daily basis.

1. Don’t think a lot about negativity.

Of course, staying positive 24 hours a day, seven days a week is a bit difficult. Letting things get to you is normal, and it’s actually healthy to cry or express frustrations once in a while.

It’s when those negative moments control your life that your emotional balance is at risk. 1 However, don’t give that sadness another second in your day.

2. 2

What you put into your body directly affects how you feel on the outside. Fill yourself with good, healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and limit snacking. Exercise is equally of great importance. Take a few days out of your week for at least half an hour of activity, and try to stick to a routine. 3

3. Be kind to others.

4 Making someone’s day a bit brighter not only puts a smile on his or her face, but also yours as well. Remember to smile and treat each person with pity and respect. Good deeds are contagious (传染的) , and your positive attitude may spread among others.

4. Take it one day at a time.

Being positive isn’t an instant thing. It’s a steady effort that we follow every hour of every day. 5 Instead, focus on living in the moment and doing what you can to make each moment better.

A.Eat healthily and stay fit.

B.Take your lunch breaks outside.

C.Don’t worry about what the future may bring.

D.Gratitude helps you appreciate life in bad times.

E.Take a few minutes to feel sad and accept what happened.

F.Good feelings come from acts of kindness and selflessness.

G.Even going outside for a walk and enjoying the sunshine improves your mood.
