【题目】 Imagine your clothing could release enough heat to keep you warm and cozy, allowing you to stay comfortable in a cooler room. Or, picture a car windshield that stores the sun's energy and then releases it as heat to make the ice on the windshield disappear.

According to a team of researchers at MIT, both cases may be possible before long, thanks to a new material that can store solar energy during the day and release it later as heat. This transparent polymer film could be applied to many different surfaces, such as window glass or clothing.

Solar energy is only available about half the time we need it — during daylight. For the sun to become a major power provider for human needs, there has to be an efficient way to save it up for use during nighttime and stormy days. Most such efforts have focused on storing and recovering solar energy in the form of electricity, but the new finding, by MlI professor Jeffrey Grossman, Postdoc David Zhitomirsky and graduate student Eugene Cho, could provide a highly efficient method for storing the sun's energy through a chemical reaction and releasing it later as heat.

The key to enabling long-term, stable storage of solar heat, the team said, is to store it in the form of a chemical change rather than storing the heat itself. But heat will disappear over time no matter how good the material around it is, so the team set up a chemical storage system that can keep the energy in a stable molecular configuration. When exposed to sunlight, the molecules can stay that way for long periods Then, when triggered (触发)by a very specific temperature or something else, the molecules return to their original shape , giving off heat in the process.

Such chemically-based storage materials, known as Solar Thermal Fuels(STF), have been developed before. But those earlier efforts were designed to be used in liquid solutions and not able to make durable (耐用的) solid-state films. The new approach is the first based on a solid-state material, in this case a polymer, and the first based on inexpensive materials and widespread production technology.

1What is the main purpose of Paragraph 1?

A.To show the main idea of the passage.

B.To practice readers' imagination.

C.To interest readers in the passage.

D.To introduce a new kind of material.

2According to the passage, what can the polymer film do?

A.It can be made into window glass.

B.It can make necessary electricity.

C.It can store energy and release sunshine.

D.It can absorb sunshine and give off heat.

3According to the passage, what is STF based on?

A.The chemical reaction.

B.The movement of heat.

C.The form of electricity.

D.The physical reaction.

4What is the advantage of the molecular configuration?

A.It is less expensive.

B.It is very powerful.

C.It is easily available.

D.It is less changeable.

Agricultural experts say crop diversity is important to feed the1(increase) population of our planet. They say having a large variety of plants also2(help) to protect against possible crop diseases and future crises. But many experts say the number has decreased sharply during the past century.

One of the world's 3(large) seed conservation projects has predicted further losses. The Millennium Seed Bank Partnership is warning that up to one hundred thousand plant species could 4 (permanent) disappear. The rich collection of genes5 decide their qualities would disappear with them.

Many experts blame climate change and loss of habitat, normal growth area, for damaging plant life. They say human6(activity) and poorly planned, overly heavy use of land also are responsible. Modern business farming is responsible7loss of farmers' traditional crop varieties. The "Green Revolution" of the twentieth century changed agriculture. Some experts say the use of modern commercial farming methods saved millions of people from8(starve). Farmers planted, watered, and fertilized their crops with the help of machines. They treated their fields with chemicals9(control) diseases and insects. Harvests grew larger and higher quality,10 another result was that some traditional crops were lost. Damage to the environment over the past century makes people believe that crop diversity also suffered.

【题目】 If you follow any people who like traveling on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed they’ve posted amazing photos from Portugal in the last few years, especially during peak summer months. Mario Fernandes, a co-creator and the editor of Golisbon said he had seen increased interest in traveling to Portugal in the past five years, particularly in the last two or three. Cindy Goldberger, a travel adviser for Hiatus, an agency in Brooklyn, New York, said that she noticed an increase in Portugal trips about three years ago and that she gets more requests to plan people’s visits there every year. According to Reuters, the number of foreign tourists visiting Portugal hit a record for 2017, and in the same year the country won the world’s leading destination at the World Travel Awards.

Fernandes suggested it’s because Portugal is safe and more affordable than many other Western European countries. The country’s frequent sunshine is also attractive to many visitors. The Algarve, the southernmost area of Portugal, is home to “some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches,” according to Fenandes. Goldberger noted that many airlines have offered better routes to the country in recent years. She’s also a fan of the new hotels that have opened, including farms that have become hotels.

Eric Hrubant, the president of Cire Travel, noted that there is another reason. “It’s a small country, yet you have cities with rich history, culture and food, as well as a lot of beach and golfing options,” he said. “In five to 10 days, you can have a vacation or honeymoon that caters to all of your senses and desires.”

Hrubant pointed out that celebrities(名人) like Madonna and newlyweds Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have moved to Portugal, which has put the country more popular.

So you don’t know where to go for a vacation this summer? Now you can make a better choice.

1What does Paragraph 1 mainly say about Portugal?

A.It’s doing its best to attract tourists.

【题目】The Dangers of Binge-Watching

The common use of Tik Tok and many other streaming services has created a new problem in today's society: binge-watching. This allows teens to spend huge amounts of time watching shows without a break. Some teens even spend the entire weekend glued to the screens. 1 When it becomes a regular habit, however, binge-watching can really create some problems.

If teens regularly head for their devices for binge-watching , they are more likely to experience loneliness and depression. It makes sense. Lonely or depressed teens will turn to mindless bing-watching to get their attention off those negative feelings. However, it doesn't really fix anything. It is a temporary band-aid that covers the real problem. 2

The shows teens watch tend to directly affect their minds. Therefore, negative shows, or those with negative portrayals(描绘)of the world around them, can increase feelings of negativity and depression.3Too many shows are filled with model-thin individuals who are still complaining that they don't look good in their clothes. This can lead a young girl to worry about her physical appearance.

Some teens don't have the self-control to their binge-watching habits on their own. 4 Parents need to be aware of how much time their teens are spending on their devices. Setting limits on screen-time can be easy to accomplish with a good parental control software.

Having regular conversations with your teens about this behavior is critical. Encourage them to tell you why they are binge-watching, what they're watching, and how they're feeling to help them develop healthier viewing habits. 5 By doing so parents have set a clear line that displays when binge-watching has to stop.

A.Worse still, it can merely cause the sense of loneliness to build up.

B.Sure, the occasional binge-watching doesn't sound too bad.

C.For this reason, what parents can do with the situation is critical.

D.They spend more time with screens than with their peers or parents.

E.Parents can also help schedule other activities to fill up the day.

F.Even body image can be linked to the shows that teens watch.

G.Instead, they can simply sit there, staring at the screen and no more effort is needed.
