Star Wars Millennium Falcon

This is a gift that, if we’re being honest, many dads want to own for themselves. This huge ship is the greatest Star Wars toy. It lights up and makes some noises. Every boy from 3 to 53 will absolutely like it, if they can find room for it. I dare say even a few grandfathers might go for it.

Biscuit—the Loving Pup

You may clearly know that a pet can be a great thing to a child’s development but you probably don’t think that you can take care of a dog properly. The robot dog Biscuit is less likely to exacerbate the disorder of your house and except for a few dead batteries, won’t leave any surprises on the floor. It will be a good playmate for your kids.

JVC KD-10 Headphones

It’s increasingly common for kids to enjoy themselves on long journeys with a portable (便携式的)DVD player or an iPod MP3, but the headphones that come with expensive electronics are seldom suitable for young ears. Kids should use JVC headphones that have a sound limiter that can be set by the concerned parent.

Sparrow-kids Routemaster Kit

Sparrow-kids Kit makes a huge range of craft (工艺) tools. There are lots of pretty but achievable projects for young girls to take up their (safe plastic) needles and sew.

Holz Wooden Airport

It might be said that Britain doesn’t need another airport but when it’s a traditional wooden toy like this all of you would agree that it’s a good thing. Treated with a little care, this play-set could easily entertain your young air traffic controllers.

The underlined word “exacerbate” in the second paragraph can be replaced by “         ”.

A.worsen               B.improve                    C.protect               D.cure

Which of the gifts is designed mainly for girls?

A.Holz Wooden Airport.                                   B.Sparrow-kids Routemaster Kit

C.Star Wars Millennium Falcon.                 D.Biscuit—the Loving Pup.

The five things listed in the passage are            .

A.presents for the whole family                  B.gifts mainly for children

C.craft tools for children                                   D.the latest high-tech products

The Colors of Friendship
Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. Green said, “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would __31__ ."
Blue interrupted, “You only think about the   32  , but consider the sky and the sea.   33__ the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. Without my peace, you would all be   34  .
Yellow laughed, “ You are all so serious. I bring laughter, fun, and  35   into the world.”
Orange started next to blow her trumpet, “ I am the color of health and strength. I may be  _36  , but I am priceless for I serve the needs of human life. When I fill the sky at sunrise or   _37  , my beauty is so striking that no one gives another  38  to any of you.
Red could stand it  39   and he shouted out, “I am the ruler of all of you. I am the color of danger and bravery. I am willing to   40_  truth. I am also the color of passion and of love.”
Then came Purple and Indigo.
The colors went on boasting(自夸), each convinced of his or her won superiority(优越). Their _41   became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightning thunder. Rain started to pour down   42  . The colors crouched (蜷缩)down   43  , drawing close to one another for comfort.
In the midst of the shout, rain began to speak, “You foolish colors, fight  44   yourselves, each trying to dominate(统治)  45  . Don’t you know that you were each made for a special purpose,   46   and different? Join hands with one  47   and come to me.”
Doing as they were told, the colors   48   and joined hands. They formed a colorful rainbow. From then on, whenever a good  49   washes the world, a rainbow appears in the sky. They remember to___50__ one another.

One day, when I was in high school, I saw a kid named Kyle from my class walking home from school with all his books, I thought to myself, “__26___ would anyone bring home all his books for the weekend? He must really be    27___.”As I was walking, I saw several kids running toward him. They ran at him,   28  all his books out of his arms and he fell down in the dirt, His glasses went   29   and landed in the grass.

My   30   went out to him. So, I ran over to him.  31  I handed him his glasses, he looked at me and said, “Hey, thanks!”

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it   32    , he lived near me. We talked all the way home. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.

Kyle was the   33 __student of our class, one of those guys that really found  themselves during high school. Therefore he had the   34  to prepare a  35  speech. On the graduation day, I could see that he was  36   .So, I patted him on the back and said, “Hey, big guy, you’ll be   37  !” He looked at me and smiled.

He cleared his throat, and began. “Graduation is a time to   38   those who helped you make it through those   39    years. Your parents, your teachers… but mostly your friends, I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best  40    you can give him.”

I just looked at my friend with   41    as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to  42    himself over the weekend and was carrying his books home. “Thankfully, nothing happened. My friend   43     me from doing the unspeakable.”

Not until that moment did I realize that you should never underestimate(低估) the  44    of your actions. With one small gesture you can   45   a person’s life. For better or for worse.
