题目内容

【题目】阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

We’ve all heard about the power of positive thinking, but a recent study found that people who think they’re getting fit actually get more positive benefits from activity, according to a Reuters Health article.

The study examined hotel housekeepers over a period of four weeks. Some of the housekeepers were told that their work duties gave them enough activity to meet the Surgeon General’s health guidelines (准则). Another group of housekeepers were told nothing. After four weeks, the housekeepers who believed their work activity counted as exercise lost weight and body fat, and their blood pressure went down.

The results of this study suggest that it’s important to understand and believe in the positive benefits of your activity. So here are a few things to think about the next time you exercise:

Just thirty minutes of quick walking each day can greatly reduce your risk of a heart attack. Even your housework like yard work and house cleaning can help you burn calories and increase your fitness levels.

Weight bearing activity just a few times a week can build bone density (密度) and reduce your chances of developing osteoporosis (骨质疏松).

Three 10-minute workouts(锻炼) throughout the day are just as good to your health as one long workout.

Moderate (适度的) amounts of exercise have been linked to lower rates of heart disease, stroke and even cancer.

Strength training can help make daily activities like carrying bags or laundry feel easier.

Regular exercise will reduce stress, keep you in a good mood and improve the quality of your sleep.

Creating good habits can be as tough as breaking bad habits. From my experience, one of the most important factors 【1】 make forming a new habit hard is that a lot of willpower 2 (require), at least in the beginning, and that alone can prevent many people correctly developing their desired habits.

Now instead of just using willpower and reminding 3 (you) to start the new habit each day, why don’t you just link it to an existing one? I have done 4 experience. It started with just 20 pushups (俯卧撑), something easy. So before I showered each day, I would do the pushups. 5 a couple of days, I increased the amount just to make it a bit more challenging.

Gradually, over the course of about 3 months, I’m now doing 100 pushups. And as the habit grew stronger, it got easier to do so 6 (natural). Now I know the habit is pretty much ingrained (根深蒂固), for I feel like something is missing 7 I don’t do this before showering. I found it pretty easy 8 (create) this habit and not much willpower was involved.

I think the key, apart from using an 9 (exist) habit, is to start out with something really easy. Once that starts becoming part of your 【10 (day) routine, add on to it.

【题目】Here’s a new warning from health experts: sitting is deadly. Scientists are increasingly warning that sitting for long periods, even if you exercise regularly, could be bad for your health. And it doesn't matter where the sitting takes place--in the office, at school, in the car or before a computer or TV. Just the overall number of hours it takes matters. Several studies suggest people who spend most of their days sitting are more likely to be fat, have a heart attack or even die. While health officials have issued(发布) guidelines advising on the least amounts of physical activities, they haven’t suggested people try to limit how much time they spend in a seated position.

“After four hours of sitting, the body starts to send harmful signals,” said Ekblom-Bak of the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences. She explained that genes controlling the amount of glucose(葡萄糖) and fat in the body start to shut down.

Even for people who exercise, spending long periods of time sitting at a desk is still harmful. Tim Armstrong, a physical activity expert at the World Health Organization, said people who exercise every day but still spend a lot of time sitting might get more benefits if that exercise were spread across the day, rather than in a single hour.

Still in a study that tracked more than 17,000 Canadians for about a dozen years, researchers found people who sat more had a higher death risk, whether they exercised or not. Experts said more research is needed to figure out just how much sitting is dangerous, and what might be possible to offset those effects.

People should keep exercising because that has a lot of benefits,” Ekblom-Bak said. “And when they’re in the office, they should try to interrupt sitting as often as possible.”

A. taking a walk around your office

B. chatting online or playing computer games

C. sending your friends emails

D. listening to music while sitting
