A man noticed his father alive on television ¡ª five years after he thought he had cremated(»ð»¯) him. A body discovered three years after his disappearance in 2000 was thought to be the pensioner (a retired person), but it¡¯s now emerged(ÏÔ³ö) it wasn¡¯t.
When John Delaney disappeared, he was spending much of his time living outside, and sleeping on the streets. He was last seen in a hospice(ÊÕÈÝËù) in Manchester. His family searched the streets of the city for him but had no luck. So when a badly-rotten body was found in the grounds of the Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2003, wearing similar clothes, police believed it was Mr Delaney and his family held a funeral.
But earlier this year his son, John Renehan, saw a picture of his father on a BBC programme.
An appeal was being made for anyone who knew the man ¡ª who had memory loss¡ªto give information.
John Renehan:
Well I knew at that very moment that was my dad. I knew at that very moment. Obviously his face, it was a bit changed, but I just knew at that very moment that was my dad. It emerged that John Delaney had been living in a care home for the last eight years.
Police have admitted they made mistakes and their enquiries were insufficient. Mr Delaney¡¯s son now wants to know the identity of the man he cremated ¡ª thinking it was his father.

On a BA flight from Johannesburg, a middle-aged, well-off white South African Lady has found herself sitting next to a black man. She called a stewardess (Å®³ËÎñÔ±) over to complain about her seating.
¡°What seems to be the problem, Madam?¡± asked the stewardess. ¡°Can¡¯t you see?¡± she said, ¡°You¡¯ve sat me next to a kafir£¨Òì½Ìͽ£©. I can¡¯t possibly sit next to this disgusting man. Find me another seat!¡± ¡°Please calm down, Madam,¡± the stewardess replied. ¡°The flight is very full today, but I¡¯ll tell you what I¡¯ll do ¡ª I¡¯ll go and check to see if we have any seats available in club or first class.¡±
The woman cocked a snooty look at the black man beside her.
A few minutes later the stewardess returned with the good news, which she delivered to the lady, who could not help but look at the people around her with a smug and self-satisfied grin. ¡°Madam, unfortunately, as I suspected, economy is full. I¡¯ve spoken to the cabin services director, and club is also full. However, we do have one seat in first class.¡±
Before the lady had a chance to answer, the stewardess continued, ¡°It is the most extraordinary to make this kind of upgrade, however, and I have had to get special permission from the captain. But, given the circumstances, the captain felt that it was outrageous£¨ÁîÈ˲»ÄÜÈÝÈ̵ģ© that someone should be forced to sit next to such an obnoxious£¨ÌÖÑáµÄ£© person.¡± Having said that, the stewardess turned to the black man sitting next to the lady, and said, ¡°So if you¡¯d like to get your things, sir, I have your seat ready for you.¡±
At that point, the surrounding passengers stood up and gave an ovation£¨ºÈ²Ê£© while the black man walked up to the front of the plane.

A. Because her seat was not near a window.
B. Because she sat next to a black man.
C. Because she wanted to have a seat in first class.
D. Because the stewardess didn¡¯t answer her question.
65. The underlined words ¡°an obnoxious person¡± in Paragraph 5 refers to ¡°__________¡±.
A. the middle-aged lady              B. the black man
C. the stewardess                         D. the captain
66. From the passage we can infer that _________.
A. the middle-aged lady got a seat in first class
B. both the middle-aged lady and the black man got seats in first class
C. neither the middle-aged lady nor the black man got a seat in first class
D. the black man got a seat in first class
67. What can we conclude from the passage?
A. The white people always prefer seats in first class on a plane.
B. More and more passengers travel by plane.
C. The black people are still looked down upon by some whites.
D. Only whites are served well on a plane.

Once when I was six years old I saw an amazing picture in a book called True Stories from Nature about the primeval£¨ÔÊ¼µÄ£©forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor(´óòþÉß) in the act of swallowing an animal. In the book it said£º¡°Boa constrictors swallow their prey whole without chewing£¨½À£©it. After that they are not able to move and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion£¨Ïû»¯£©.¡±
I thought deeply then over the adventures of the jungle. And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number One. I showed my work to the grown-ups and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered£º¡°Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat£¿¡±
My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing. I drew the inside of the boa constrictor so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained. That's my Drawing Number Two.
The grown-ups' response this time was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of ba constrictors whether from the inside or the outside and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why at the age of six I gave up what might have been a great painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.
So then I chose another profession£¨Ö°Òµ£© and learned to pilot airplanes. I have flown a little over all parts of the world; and it is true that geography has been very useful to me. At a glance I can distinguish China from Arizona. If one gets lost in the night, such knowledge is valuable.
In the course of this life I have had lots of chances to meet with a great many people. And that hasn't much improved my opinion of them. Whenever I met one of them who seemed to me at all clear-sighted, I tried showing him my Drawing Number One which I have always kept. I would try to find out if this was a person of true understanding. But whoever it was, he or she would always say: That is a hat. Then I would never talk to that person about boa constrictors or primeval forests or stars. I would bring myself down to his level. I would talk to him about bridge and golf and politics and neckties. And the grown-up would be greatly pleased to have met such an intelligent man.
¡¾Ð¡Ìâ1¡¿The writer drew his first picture in order to ________.

A£®show the grown-ups what the book was about
B£®frighten the grown-ups trying to enter the forest
C£®remind himself of the adventures of the jungle
D£®illustrate£¨ËµÃ÷£©a boa constrictor's act of digesting an animal
¡¾Ð¡Ìâ2¡¿How did the writer understand the grown-ups' response to his second drawing?
A£®He was actually only good at academic study.
B£®It was a waste of time for him to keep on drawing.
C£®He had difficulty in communicating with the adults.
D£®He was good at anything but geography.
¡¾Ð¡Ìâ3¡¿The underlined word disheartened in Paragraph 4 could most probably be replaced by ________.
A£®discouragedB£®dissatisfiedC£®discoveredD£®disturbed
¡¾Ð¡Ìâ4¡¿Which of the following statements is true?
A£®The writer could have become a pilot if encouraged when young.
B£®The writer finally changed his opinion of grown-ups.
C£®The writer has been showing his two pictures to others ever since.
D£®The writer felt nobody could have really understood him.
