How to Improve Eyesight Naturally

Eyes are important for everybody. You must take care and try everything in your hand to keep them in good condition. Here are some of the tips to improve your eyesight naturally.

【1】 Strain is known to be a factor in many health conditions and eyestrain(眼疲劳) is no exception. Try meditation, yoga or other methods of stress relief to improve your vision and overall health.

Sit upright in a comfortable chair. 2 Cup your hands so that there is no pressure on your eyes. Let your fingers rest across your forehead. There should be no light entering your eyes. Palming(手掌按摩)should be done for a period of 5 to 10 minutes to start. Palming should be relaxing. It may help to do palming in a darkened room.

3 It will unpleasantly affect your eyesight, which affects the eyes by producing a larger amount of insulin (胰岛素) in the blood. Therefore you shouldn’t be having much fruit juice or something that contains a lot of sugar.

The only exercise most eyes get is that daily rubbing we give them when we're tired or suffering from eyestrain. But eye exercises are actually good for your eyes and can improve your vision. 4 Blink as fast as you can for a few seconds then close your eyes tightly, open and repeat. Do this exercise 3 to 4 times daily.

You probably hear that statement all the time but eating the right foods are necessary to good health. 5 Foods that are high in fiber, vitamin C, D and beta carotene as well as other vitamins and minerals can help improve your vision. Here are a few foods that can be beneficial to good vision: carrots, eggs, blueberries, spinach, kale, grapes, and fresh garlic.

A. Reduce eyestrain.

B. Keep your eyes moist(湿的).

C. Sugar is your eye’s worst enemy.

D. Give your eyes a workout with the following exercise.

E. You may not be aware that your diet affects your vision but it does.

F. Close eyes and cover them with the palms of your hands.

G. Be sure to get plenty of sleep so your eyes don’t strain to stay open during the day.

【题目】America is a mobile society. Friendships between Americans can be close and real, yet disappear soon if situations change. Neither side feels hurt by this. Both may exchange Christmas greetings for a year or two, perhaps a few letters for a while — then no more. If the same two people meet again by chance, even years later, they pick up the friendship. This can be quite difficult for us Chinese to understand, because friendships between us flower more slowly but then may become lifelong feelings, extending (延伸) sometimes deeply into both families.

Americans are ready to receive us foreigners at their homes, share their holidays, and their home life. They will enjoy welcoming us and be pleased if we accept their hospitality (好客) easily.

Another difficult point for us Chinese to understand Americans is that although they include us warmly in their personal everyday lives, they don’t show their politeness to us if it requires a great deal of time. This is usually the opposite of the practice in our country where we may begenerous with our time. Sometimes, we, as hosts, will appear at airports even in the middle of the night to meet a friend. We may take days off to act as guides to our foreign friends. The Americans, however, express their welcome usually at homes, but truly can not manage the time to do a great deal with a visitor outside their daily routine. They will probably expect us to get ourselves from the airport to our own hotel by bus. And they expect that we will phone them from there. Once we arrive at their homes, the welcome will be full, warm and real. We will find ourselves treated hospitably.Z*X*X*K]

For the Americans, it is often considered more friendly to invite a friend to their homes than to go to restaurants, except for purely business matters. So accept their hospitality at home!

1The writer of this passage must be ______.

A. an American B. a Chines

C. a professor D. a student

2Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?

A. Friendships between Americans usually extend deeply into their families.

B. Friendships between Americans usually last for all their lives.

C. Americans always show their warmth even if they are very busy.

D. Americans will continue their friendships again even after a long break.

3The underlined words “generous with our time” in Paragraph 3 probably mean ______.

A. strict with time B. serious with time

C. careful with time D. willing to spend time

4A suitable title for this passage would probably be “______”.

A. Friendships between Chinese

B. Friendships between Americans

C. Americans’ hospitality

D. Americans’ and Chinese’s views of friendships

What would you think if someone suggested knocking down St Paul’s cathedral to widen the road,or pulling down Big Ben to make way for a car park? It’d be ridiculous, right? But when it comes to devastation(毁灭)of the natural world,we aren’t so easily shocked. But we should be...or we’ll be in a lot of trouble!

Nature is shrinking by the day.Ancient forests are destroyed.Wetlands are becoming dry.Woodland is disappearing, all in the name of progress. This is bad in itself, but it’s devastating for biodiversity.

Biodiversity refers to the variety of plants, animals and other living things which are all inter-connected.The ecological services provided by biodiversity are vital to everyday life. The air we breathe is a product of photosynthesis(光合作用)by green plants. In fact, all life on earth exists thanks to the benefit of biodiversity.More than 90 percent of the calories consumed by people worldwide are produced from 80 plant species. And 30 percent of medicines are developed from plants and animals.Maintaining a wide diversity of species in each ecosystem is necessary to preserve all living things.

The loss of biodiversity could be devastating.“It is wrong to think that biodiversity can be reduced indefinitely without threatening humans,” said Harvard University biologist Edward O Wilson, known as “the father of biodiversity”.He warned,“We are about to reach a critical point beyond which biodiversity loss will be unavoidable.”

But what can we do? The problem is that the concept of biodiversity is so vague.People might care about giant pandas, but it is much harder to excite them about the fate of tiny sea creatures which are being boiled to death in the cooling systems of power stations along coastlines. The Guardian newspaper is trying to help.It has started the Biodiversity 100 campaign to try to convince governments around the world to take action to deal with the widespread concerns about biodiversity. This includes persuading the UK government to create a series of marine reserves to change the decrease in the sea-life caused by industrial fishing, stopping fishing sharks by the Japanese fishermen and banning the killing of dingoes in Australia, among many other things.

There is a lot to do.And we’d better act quickly if we don’t want to end up with a planet that can’t support life!

【题目】Imagine this: you get up in the morning and put on a custom printed T-shirt. Then you eat some 3-D printed food and relax on your printed sofa. Perhaps you take a ride in a printed electric car to the hospital to get a printed tooth fitted.

Though some of these things may seem impossible, they’re closer to reality than you might think. The world of 3-D printing is coming to a store near you soon.

The idea of 3-D printing is to produce complicated shapes in a very personalized way. If you want to make a totally new object, you need to make a virtual design in a CAD(computer aided design)file first. Or you can use a 3-D scanner to make a digital copy of an object. Then, based on the design or copy, the 3-D printer makes paper-thin slices out of liquid, plastic, or metal and puts them together to create the object you want.

There are many areas in which 3-D printing can change our lives. One such area is health care. Researchers have developed simple 3-D printed organs, which can be used in life-saving operations. A 17-year-old boy in the US has also recently developed a brain-powered, 3-D printed replacement hand. From heart monitors to fake limbs(四肢), we can soon be living longer thanks to 3-D printed technology.

Another area that 3-D technology looks sure to change is food. Can you imagine being able to print your favorite dishes at home at the touch of a button? Even big companies are behind the trend. Hersheys, one of the largest chocolate makers in the world, recently announced that it would start producing chocolate with the help of 3-D printers. NASA, the US space agency, has reportedly spent $125,000 (767,594 yuan) developing a 3-D pizza printer”.

It is not yet clear how long it will take until 3-D printers are available to everyone. But one thing is for sure: the possibilities are endless.

【1】The purpose of the first paragraph is to ________.

A. list some major 3-D printing breakthroughs

B. describe the characters of 3-D printing

C. picture a future life with 3-D printing

D. describe the benefits that 3-D printing has brought to our lives

【2Compared with traditional manufacturing procedures, 3-D printing ________.

A. isn’t practical in daily life

B. relies less heavily on the use of 3-D scanners

C. can produce complicated products in larger sizes or numbers

D. has an advantage in meeting the personal needs

【3】We can infer from the article that ________.

A. there is still a long way to go before everyone can have access to 3-D printing

B. 3-D printed organs and limbs are as effective as real ones

C. big food companies are major players in the 3-D printing industry

D. people can create any object with any material by 3-D printing

【4】What can be the best title for the text?

A. What is 3-D printing?

B. A new technology-3-D printing.

C. How to use 3-D printing?

D. The development of 3-D printing.

【题目】阅读理解。

Every year there are changes in climate in different parts of the world. Some of these changes are due to natural causes. However, some climate changes are caused by air pollution and these changes may increase.

If the pollution affects the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the results are likely to be serious. There is only a small part of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. But it has an important function in keeping the balance between radiation from the sun entering the atmosphere and radiation leaving the Earth. Some of the radiation is absorbed by the Earth and some is radiated back into the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere prevents some of the radiation from leaving the atmosphere. Thus the heat remains in the atmosphere and carbon dioxide helps to prevent the temperature of the Earth from falling.

If the proportion(比例)of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increased as a result of air pollution, the temperature of the atmosphere may rise. This might cause the ice in the North and South to melt.If this happened, the sea level could rise and parts of the Earth would be flooded. This is not quite likely but the possibility exists.

There is also a fairly strong possibility that the dust level in the atmosphere will rise as a result of industrial pollution. This dust pollution will reflect sunlight back onto space. If this happens, less sunlight will reach the Earth and the temperature will fall.

Another danger comes from the destruction(破坏)of the Earth’s vegetation(植物)such as the forest of Brazil, which is being cleared away for farmland and cities.Trees use carbon dioxide and their destruction may upset the balance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

【1】The main purpose of the passage is to tell us that .

A.the climate of the earth is always changing

B.air pollution has greatly affected the climate of the world

C.carbon dioxide has something to do with climate changes

D.the climate of the world is subjected to(使受到)dangers from air pollution

【2】From this passage we learn that carbon dioxide .

A.helps to prevent the temperature of the Earth from rising

B.keeps much of the sun’s radiation from entering the atmosphere

C.plays an important part in keeping the balance of the temperature of the Earth

D.is one of natural causes of climate changes

【3】Judging from this passage,if the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere went down, the temperature of the Earth would .

A.become higher B.either rise or fall

C.become lower D.neither rise nor fall

【4】Which of the following is not the possible serious outcome if air pollution is related to climate changes?

A.Parts of the Earth would be flooded one day.

B.More sunlight would reach the Earth.

C.The temperature of the Earth might rise.

D.The Earth’s vegetation might be destroyed.

【题目】Indoor Plants

As with any house guests, indoor plants require a certain amount of basic, regular attention if they are going to feel at home. The first consideration when purchasing plants is to make reasonably sure that they are suitable for the condition in which they are going to be housed.

A general rule for most plans being brought indoors for the first time is to ensure that they have reasonable temperature of not less than 60 degrees Fahrenheit,a position out of cold air, safe from pets and not exposed to strong sunlight.

Plants love company. When plants are growing together, they create an atmosphere of damp around themselves which is far more beneficial than hot dry conditions. A group of plants will also present a more pleasing picture and provide an opportunity for a creative arrangement. There is no secret to this. Just rely on your natural feeling for harmony.

Watering and feeding plants are probably the two areas of care that are the least well understood, but, again,if you follow a few simple rules, your plants should do well. Cold Slightly warm water is therefore the answer. It is usually better to pour water on to the soil on the surface of the pot rather than put the water into the pot holder at the bottom. Avoid giving small amount of water at regular intervals- it is much better to wet the soil right through the pot in one go and then to allow it to dry noticeably before giving it a further watering.

The majority of indoor plants will be in active growth from March until October, and during this time, the established ones will benefit from regular feeding. This may mean feeding with a weak liquid fertilizer(肥料) at each watering or at intervals of a week or ten days with fertilizer at a standard strength. It is important, however,to ensure that plants are not fed when growth is inactive, when the soil in the pot is dry,or too soon after the plants has been potted up.

【1】In Paragraph 2,the author mainly tells us to___________.

A. but plants that help clean indoor air

B. create a new environment with plants

C. put plants on the sunny side of the room

D. make sure of suitable conditions for plants

【2】What’s the benefit of plants growing together?

A. It provides owners good company.

B. It helps the air around them slightly wet.

C. It makes it convenient to look after them.

D. It allows owners to draw a pleasant picture.

【3】While watering the plants, what should we remember to do?

A. Use water that is a little warm.

B. Pour the water into the pot holder.

C. Give small amount of water at one time.

D. Consider further watering in dry weather.

【4】What is the best time to feed the plants?

A. When the soil is dry.

B. When their growth is active.

C. When the temperature is high.

D. When they have just been planted.
