Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother took the small boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother saw a friend in the audience and walked1the aisle(通道)to greet her.2the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and3explored his way through a door4"NO ADMITTANCE."
5the house’s lights dimmed and the6was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that her son was 7. Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused8the impressive Steinway on stage.In9, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently(纯洁地)picking out "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
At that moment, the great piano master10his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear, "Don't11." "Keep playing." Then leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left12and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the13side of the child and he14a running obbligato(伴奏).Together, the15master and the young novice(新手)transformed a16situation into a wonderfully creative17. The audience was mesmerized(迷倒).
That's the way it is with God.18we can finish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the19aren't exactly flowing music. But20the hand of the Master, our life's work truly can be beautiful.

It was the night before the composition was due. As I looked at the list of topics(题目), “The Art of Eating Spaghetti(意大利面条)” caught my eye. The word “spaghetti” brought back the 1 of an evening at Uncle Alien’s in Belleville 2all of us were seated around the table and Aunt Pat 3 spaghetti for supper. Spaghetti was an exotic(外来的) treat in 4days. Never had I eaten spaghetti, and 5 of the grown-ups had enough experience to be6it. What laughing 7 we had about the8respectable method for moving spaghetti from plate to mouth. 9, I wanted to write about that, but I wanted to 10 it down simply for my own 11, not for Mr. Fleagle, my composition teacher. 12, I would write something else.
When I finished it the night was half gone and there was no 13 left to write a proper composition for Mr. Fleagle. There was no choice next morning but to 14my work. Two days passed before Mr. Fleagle returned the 15 papers. He said, “Now, class, I want to read you a composition, ‘The Art of Eating Spaghetti’. ”
My words! He was reading my words out 16 to the whole class. 17 laughed, then the whole class was laughing with open-hearted enjoyment. I did my best not to show18, but what I was feeling was pure happiness, 19 my words had the power to make people20.

When he took them out of the hotel to 11 that his story was12, he found that the car with the 13in it had gone. There were so many14about Mr. Moore's black bear during the next week that he at last put an advertisement(广告) in the newspaper;“If anyone saw a black bear blowing the horn in a car outside the Century Hotel 15the evening of Christmas Day, please tell…”
Two days later16Mrs. Richards called him and said that she and her husband had left their pet (宠物) bear in their car outside the Century Hotel for a few minutes that evening, and that 17he had blown the horn.
Mrs. Richards did not18to think there was anything19about that.“Our bear likes blowing car horns,”she said,“and we don't 20when we are not driving the car.”
