解答 71-75 DBCDB
71题答案是D.判断对错题.根据文章第二段可Designed by Italian Architect Antonio Citterio知选项A正确;根据which allow you to watch TV,listen to music or even play games while you train可知B正确;根据Do you want to get fit but find jogging boring? Then you need the Run Personal treadmill(跑步机)from Technogym 这是一款给那些觉得慢跑枯燥的人的礼物,即不适合送给喜欢室外慢跑的人,可知C是正确的.而选项D在文章中并没有提及.故选D.
72题答案是B.细节理解题.根据第三段和第五段可知,swimming pool配water climber,garden配Ryedale hutch.故选B.
73题答案是C.推理判断题.根据but now you can't see the TV!Don't worry,for£999 Aquavision will provide you with a completely waterproof LCD television which becomes a luxurious(奢侈的)bathroom mirror when you're not using it.

11.Where do you keep ice?In die freezer,of course.That's what scientists might have thought when they were looking for a safe place to store ice from mountain glaciers from around the world.They've decided to store ice in Antarctica because global warming is causing some of the glaciers in places like the Alps to melt.
Jerome Chappellaz of the French National Centre for Scientific Research is involved in creating an ice vault (地下室)there.He says:"We are probably the only scientific community whose sample (样本) is in danger of disappearing from the face of the planet.If you work on rocks or on tree rings,the raw material is still here and will be for many centuries."
And why do scientists need to study ice from the Alps?Ice formed on the top of a mountain is made of snow accumulated over thousands of years.Trapped air bubbles (气泡) contain samples of the atmosphere that existed when that ice was formed.Ice is a record of climate.By examining ice,we know carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is higher now than in the last three million years.Researchers use this kind of data to build computer models and try to predict what might happen in the future.
The ice vault will be housed in a snow cave at the Concordia Research Station,which is operated by scientists from France and Italy.The ice samples will be sealed in bags and placed 10meters below the surface at a constant temperature of-50*C.This will put the scientists'minds at rest.Losing the ice samples would be a disaster,and nobody wants to see a mine of scientific knowledge lost forever in a giant pool.
32.What is the researchers'purpose of studying ice?A

C.They think it will cause disasters.
D.They think it's a reliable way.

7.The Commonwealth games have meant that the eyes of the world have been focused on our fair city-Melbourne.And it would look pretty good,wouldn't it?And what better way to regain our title as world's most liveable city?I'm told that we recently lost the right to say this to foreign friends proudly when the international list was re-examined and we slipped to the fourth place.
It's hard to see how Melbourne could have lost its crown (桂冠) when you look at what it has to offer.24hours Coles,free transport for drunks on New Year's Eve,a new freeway,it's all here.
The first focus for the international press will obviously be the endless stadiums dotted around the city.But as well as being full every other weekend,these great places often play host to slightly older kids.At Rod Laver,even the olds get a look-in as the Christian evangelical (教会的) road show rolls into town once a year for a night of stadium worship (崇拜).
Another pleasure Melbourne enjoys is that it's very easy to get around.There's a bit of a squeeze during rush hour for sure,but nothing like Bangkok,where the journey home can take longer than growing a beard and parking is barely distinguishable from the drive itself.Driving here is a piece of cake.It must be because the wise people who hand out the taxis seem to actively encourage a career behind the wheel within 24hours of landing in the country as an educational tool for getting to know the city.No slowing down for learning bends,just go,go,go!
As for the social life,with over 40million bars in Melbourne's CBD alone,we have plenty of places for spectators to celebrate national victory,making this town as good as any and it happens 24hours a day,7days a week.
Unfortunately,the athletes themselves don't get to smell the roses to the same degree.But the rest of the world will know that this is the place to be.The most liveable city in the world.By far the easiest place on earth to cheat death,which is essentially what we're talking about.

63.In Paragraph 1and 2the author is wonderingA.
A.how Melbourne has fallen behind
B.when the international list was re-examined
C.what they should do to regain the world's focus
D.whether Melbourne can offer greater convenience
64.What does the author mainly want to show in the passage?C
A.The casual life styles of Melbourne.
B.The various social activities in Melbourne.
C.The competitive advantages of Melbourne.
D.The convenient transportation in Melbourne.
65.From the underlined sentence,we can infer the athletesA.
A.have minimum social activities
B.take no interest in the beauty of the city
C.are forbidden to live in the busy city centre
D.are unwilling to celebrate the victory publicly
66.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?D

CP:Central Point  P:Point  Sp:Sub-point (次要点)  C:Conclusion.
14.The iPad is an Apple tablet computer. The device sits somewhere between a laptop and a smart phone, according to Apple's chief executive,Steven P.Jobs, and does certain things better than both of them, like surfing the Web,reading e-books and playing videos. The iPad went on sale on April 3,2010,and Apple said it had shipped 500,000 units in the first week. The handheld device puts Apple on a direct collision course with the Kindle from Amazon, which Mr.Jobs ever considered as pioneering the category.
It is common knowledge that media companies hope the iPad will finally lead to available way for them to charge for news, books and other materials. The half-inch thick,1.5-pound device features a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen and is powered by a customized(订制的)Apple microchip, which is called A4.It has been designed with an exposed screen and without a camera or separate keyboard. The iPad has the same operating system as the iPhone and also has access to its 140,000 applications.
The price of the device starts at 499 for the most basic model, with a Wi-Fi wireless connection.More expensive models with more memory and with 3G wireless access will cost 629 to 829,depending on storage size.
Because Apple is attempting to popularize a new kind of computing device, acceptance among consumers is expected to be slower than with previous Apple devices.Critics assume that some buyers are waiting for future versions of the iPad to appear, perhaps with a camera or USB ports(端口).
On its first day on sale,iPad users downloaded more than one million applications from the company's AppStore and more than 250,000 electronic books from its iBookstore.A new wave of apps is expected in response to the iPad.For an application developer, having an application accepted for a highly desired Apple product means reaching a passionate group of consumers. The potential income is huge:the apps market for the iPhone and iPod Touch alone is already worth a billion dollars a year in sales.

4.When you're an employee of a company,no matter the size,it's common to see co-workers promoted,or transferred to a different department. But there is another way to move around-by creating a new position for yourself.I did this several years ago, though I wasn't actively looking for a different job.
In 2007,I was hired at the Transamerica Life Insurance Company,as a customer service representative in the distributions services department.I processed requests for distributions from our annuity(养老金)policy holders around the country.Someone might have forgotten to sign a form, for example,or might have omitted security information. To solve the problem,I'd mail the person a letter.
The company had been through several combinations,so in our department alone we had a collection of about 140 templates(模板) for letters related to distributions. The longer I worked with the letters, the more I saw how they could be improved. Some had overlapping information and could be combined. Some had incorrect grammar or needed updating.I also noticed that industry terminology(专业术语) wasn't standard across all the versions.
When I told my department supervisor about this in 2008,she agreed that the letters needed revamping. She said I should stop what I'd been doing and start the new work.In a relatively short time,I was able to make numerous improvements and reduce the number of letters to 70.It was an informal job change until a managers'meeting several months later.
At that meeting,a vice president who was unaware of my new work mentioned that the division's entire stock of 1,700 letters should be reviewed. My manager told her that she knew the perfect person for the job-me.The position was still considered temporary when I took on the extra tasks, but I was able to show that the work had value, and I was officially promoted and given a raise in November 2009.

8.The pupils of the remote Beau-Roc primary school in Haiti are singing.One of them plays a guitar made from an empty oil tin.Their headmistress,Emile Jean-Noel,is one of the few women school principals in the country.
Over 70% of Haitian population live below the poverty line with inadequate food,water,schools,or housing.To reduce the hunger that prevents learning and to encourage parents to send their children to school,meals are provided by the World Food Programme.
"We are so cut off we have many difficulties,"comments Emile,adding that finding chalk,school books and other materials is practically impossible.Emile tries to encourage those around her to make use of all available resources.Her efforts are bearing fruit.One of her successes was convincing local women to contribute to their children's schooling and increase their own income by selling embroidery(刺绣) and other handicrafts.

Not only is Emile's salary too little,but she receives it irregularly.For her,transport is a real headache.She lives five kilometers away and has to take a privately-owned bus,costing more than she can afford.
"The decision to be a rural teacher in Haiti should not be taken lightly",Emile comments."With all the sacrifices and risks it requires,only those who are really cut out for teaching should do it."Nevertheless,Emile loves her job."I always feel at home with the children and,the parents understand what I'm doing."
