There was a lot of passengers on a city bus. When the bus arrived at a stop, the pretty woman got on the bus. All the passengers kept their eyes fixing on her. An old man near the door attempted to get up, and the woman forced him back into her seat. “Thank you, but please sit down,” she said. “But, madam…” replies the man. “You really needn’t to do that since I’m young,” interrupted the woman. Later, the man tried to rise again but stopped by the woman. Finally the man managed to rise and said angry, “The bus has carried me three blocks beyond my house. I have to get on.”

【解析】

 were  there be句型是倒装句，单复数要看后面的名词，本句后面是复数，were正确。

 but   根据上下文可知这里是转折关系。

 his   这里是指old man的座位，是男性,用his.

 replied  本段文章使用的是过去时。

 去掉to  need这里是情态动词，后面直接加动词原形。

 加was  根据句意可知这里是被动语态、

 angrily  修饰动词应该使用副词。

Mike called his wife to tell him that he had got two film tickets. He asked her to go and meet him outside the theatre. Mike’s wife is very glad because they hadn’t seen a film for quite long time. She met her husband in the entrance to the cinema. Mike took out his wallet to get the ticket, so they were not there. He then tried his pockets, but the tickets were not there, too.
