And wherever we are, it’s a good habit to keep our clothes clean and tidy, and not throw litter or spit around so as to protect the environment. At the time, I would go out in the evening with my parents. But this time I had borrowed a bicycle from a friend of mine. I didn’t know why, but once I was on my own bicycle, a kind of free feeling flooded through me. The faster I rode, the faster I wanted to go! Far ahead, I rode as if my life depended on it, head down, hands grasping the handbars. I meant to get to Jinghai Bar as fast as I could...

Oh! My hands! Don’t come any closer... Don’t touch me! That poor doctor just couldn’t get my gloves off. Each time he took a step towards me, I broke into painful shouting. Much later, I discovered that I had crashed heavily with another bicycle, and I hadn’t spoken one word of sense for at least three hours! After some time, my mother arrived at the hospital, her face as white as a sheet, and gave me a hug, only then did the doctor begin to stitch(缝合) my head wound, not only did he merrily cut off a long lock of my hair, but used no anaesthetic(麻药) either! Later, I seemed to hear faraway voices saying that my right hand was broken. I almost burst into tears. How would I ever play the piano again?

It was Thanksgiving morning. I was busy preparing the traditional Thanksgiving turkey when the doorbell rang. I opened the front door and saw two small children in rags huddling together on the top step.

“Any old papers, lady?” asked one of them.

I was busy. I wanted to say “no” until I looked down at their feet. They were wearing thin little sandals, wet with heavy snow.

“Come in and I'll make you a cup of hot cocoa.”

They walked over and sat down at the table. Their wet sandals left marks upon the floor. I served them cocoa and bread to fight against the cold outside. Then I went back to the kitchen and started cooking.

The silence in the front room struck me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice, “Lady, are you rich?”

“Am I rich? Pity, no!”

I looked at my worn?out slipcovers(椅套). The girl put her cup back in its saucer (碟) carefully and said, “Your cups match your saucers.” They left after that, holding their papers against the wind. They had reminded me that I had so much for which to be grateful.

Plain blue china cups and saucers were only worth five pence. But they matched.

I tasted the potatoes and stirred the meat soup. Potatoes and brown meat soup, a roof over our heads, my man with a regular job, these matched, too.

I moved the chairs back from the fire and cleaned the living room. The muddy marks of little sandals were still wet upon my floor. Let them be for a while, I thought, just in case I should begin to forget how rich I am.

We spend so much time waiting to be loved, hoping love will find us, and looking for that special love.Unfortunately, that’s not usually how life works. To be loved, you should love and respect yourself as much as you do others. In order to love someone, you should love yourself.

●Stop comparing yourself to others.1.We all have different gifts. When you compare yourself to others for what they have, whether it is a car, a house, or a job, it makes you feel bad about yourself. Really be grateful about everything you have. Gratitude keeps your heart open to love.

●Practice receiving love. To truly love is to be able to receive it. When someone loves you, does some kind deeds to you, or says kind words, accept it.2.Know that you are worthy of love. It is important to accept a gift of love by others. You give yourself a chance to learn more about yourself that you are lovable.3.

●4.Write about your experiences, good and bad. When you write down good experiences, allow yourself to feel those feelings. When you remember bad experiences, allow yourself to feel self-compassion. Compassion is not self-pity, but rather willingness to accept one's own pain and regret.

●Stop trying to be perfect. Stop blaming yourself for being less than perfect.5.Just follow all the steps above and don't let anyone's expectations of you put any pressure on you.

A. Keep a diary.

B. Appreciate yourself.

C. Do not feel sorry about it.

D. Always do your best, but not reaching perfection is NOT failure.

E. Allow yourself to feel the love that has come your way.

F. You give someone a joy of giving by loving you.

G. Everyone on the earth is unique.

My husband and I insisted that our children were old enough to clean their rooms and make their beds. But they thought . My complaints, even self-justified(自有道理) , were always landing on ears. Very often a whole hour’s scolding would end with their into tears. I felt very annoyed. I realized I needed to my method of “mothering”.

One day when they were at school, I spent some time tidying their rooms. On their desks, in simple , I left the cards: “Dear Bill(the other card was to Sarah), your room was messy this morning and I’m sure you like it clean. Love, the Room Fairy(小精灵).” arriving back, the children were excited to receive the little note from the Room Fairy. The next day, their rooms were fairly tidy. Sure enough, there was another note from the Room Fairy for them, thanking them for their nice “gift” of a clean room and asking them to play a certain violin . Each day, thank-you notes would be written differently to keep the ideas .

Sometimes the Room Fairy would offer a little : “If you can finish your homework and go over your lessons before dinner, I’d like to watch a particular television program with you tonight.” Sometimes some colored markers or other little items would be left

in of well-done jobs the day .

I can’t remember how long “the Room Fairy” continued leaving her love notes. When they were age appropriate, we used various versions of Post-Its (贴条). The bathroom mirror became the centre of our home. Appointments, notices about visiting relatives, lesson schedules, and changes in plans could be .

We all benefited from and the idea of sharing reminders and daily details of life through notes. I believe the true advantage of the Room Fairy notes survives in our frequent and enjoyable communication.
