If you think texting(发短信) while walking is dangerous, just wait until everyone starts wearing Google's smart, Internet-connected glasses. These glasses can do anything you now need a smartphone or tablet computer(平板电脑) to do —and then some.
In Google's video, a guy wearing the "Project Glass" is shown getting subway information, making an appointment with a friend for coffee and showing the directions in a bookstore, all with the help of the glass. It ends with him playing an instrument for a woman and showing her the sunset through a video chat.
The "Project Glass" Google displayed have a sleek(光滑的) wrap-around look and appear nothing like 3-D glasses. In development for a few years, the project is the idea of Google X, the online search-leader's secret department that produced the self-driving car and could one day send elevators into space.
Google posted the video and short blog post about “Project Glass” on April 4th, asking people to offer feedback(反馈) through its Google Plus social network. By April 5th, about 500 people did, voicing a mix of amazement and concern about the new technology. What if people used it in cars and could not concentrate on driving? What about the effect on(对……有影响) your sight of having a screen so close to your eye?
Some asked for the glass, but Google isn't giving those out just yet. The company didn't say when normal people can expect to get their hands on a piece of Project Glass, but going by how quickly Google will come out with new products, it may not be long. Enderle said that it could be about six months to a year before wide tests are coming, and a year or more for the first version(版本) of the product.

One thing Britain is famous for its pubs(酒吧), and no trip to the UK would be complete without a visit to one of the thousands of pubs across the country.
Pubs play an important part in the social structure of the country. They are places where all ages and social classes mix to talk, do business, or just spend a couple of quiet hours before heading home in the evening.
There are many different types of beer available in pubs. Traditional British beer is called bitter(苦啤酒), or ale, and is usually served at room temperature. As a result, the British are famous for their ‘warm beer’! If you prefer a cold beer, ask for lager. This beer is a light yellow in colour whereas bitter is usually a darker brown. All beers are served as pints (500 ml) or halves (250ml). To order, you need to ask for a pint or half, and then name the beer. So, you could say “A pint of bitter, please.”
Another drink is cider(苹果酒). This is like beer, but it is made from apples so it can taste sweet. Wine, red or white, is normally available in all pubs, as are spirits(烈性酒) such as whisky, gin or vodka(伏特加).
It is not, however, necessary to drink alcohol. Non-alcoholic drinks are called soft drinks. You can have juice, lemonade or cola, among others.
If you visit a pub in a group, it is important to pay for your ‘round’. This means that you buy a drink for everyone in your group. Not buying your round is a big social mistake! Remember that you need to order and pay for your drinks at the bar.
So, follow these tips if you want to get the most out of visiting a pub, and, “cheers!”

Money, jewels and important documents may not be the only valuables placed in banks these days. Some mothers store their breast milk (母乳) in banks.

There are ten breast milk banks across the United States, where mothers can donate their extra milk for other women’s babies.

Experts say breast milk is the best food for babies. The World Health Organization says it is the only food babies should get during the first six months of life, in most cases. Breast milk is especially important for babies born too early. Sometimes these premature babies must stay in the hospital for many weeks.

James Cameron is a doctor who treats newborns at Lutheran Children’s Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He says breast milk is almost like medicine. Doctor James Cameron says, “The fact is that there are so many different proteins and specialized sugars in the breast milk that the mom’s able to make that help provide immunity (免疫力). It’s very important for the health of the newborn.”

Lucy Baur lives near Fort Wayne. She breastfed both her children and always had more milk than they needed. She wanted to donate to the Indiana Mothers Milk Bank in Indianapolis. But freezing and shipping milk can be costly. Then, a donor station opened near her home.

Milk donations in the United States work like this. Donors must be willing to provide almost three liters of breast milk. They freeze the milk and take it to the station. There, employees warm the milk and mix it with other mothers’ milk. Then, the milk is heated to kill bacteria. After that, the technicians test samples of all the milk to make sure it is safe and healthful. The milk is re-frozen and sent to the main milk bank. The milk bank transports the milk to hospitals to feed premature or sick babies.

Donors are tested for diseases before any milk is accepted. They are not permitted to smoke tobacco, use illegal drugs or drink too much alcohol.
