根据he could hardly中的hardly,它是否定词,排除B和C,再结合该句意思,故选A。

Though my wings are broken, my heart can still fly。

In 1961, a man found a strange cat on his farm in Scotland. The cat’s ears were folded, bent forward, on its head. In fact, this was a new kind of cat. People named it the "Scottish Fold(苏格兰折耳猫)".
The Scottish Fold has a round head and large eyes. Its neck and legs are short, which makes it look very cute. Interestingly, all the Scottish Folds are born with straight and unfolded ears. And when they are growing up day by day, some cats’ ears will begin to fold. So, the Scottish Fold comes in two types: folded ears and straight ears.
Besides, there is a nickname for the Scottish Fold. It is the " Messenger of Peace". Why?
Because the Folds are sweet and friendly animals. They can get along well with other cats. And
unlike some other cats, they can even get along well with dogs! In many different environments, such as at a noisy house, or in a cat show, you can see them playing with other animals happily.

Do you plan to go to Hong Kong Disneyland with your family this summer? If your dad smokes, you may have to ask him to be careful. From January 1st, Hong Kong banned(禁止)smoking in most public places.
These places include restaurants, workplaces, schools and so on. Even smoking in some outdoor places is not allowed, for example, beaches, sports ground, museums and most areas of public parks.
Hong Kong hopes the ban can stop passive smoking. What is passive smoking? When people smoke in a restaurant or on a bus, others have to smoke too. They don’t want to smoke but they have no choice. This is passive smoking. It is bad for people’s health.
And it’ll be better if more people in Hong Kong give up smoking because of the ban. Jack Lee, a 26-year-old student says, “The ban is really good. I don’t like people smoking next to me. It’s so smoky and smelly.”

Did you visit the Shanghai World Expo last summer? What impressed (给…… 21st Century Kids invites four kids to talk about their experiences. They are back from the Expo. What did they bring us? Let’s see what they have to say.

I went to the SAIC-GM Pavilion I found my dream car there. It is a green car. Its name is “Leaf”. Chinese engineers made the car. Its roof is in the shape of a leaf. The roof takes in CO2 and changes it intoelectricityfor the car.
The Japan Pavilion is full of high technology. The “Wonder Camera” is cool. It can find a smiling face in a crowd. When you’re smiling, it takes a photo of you. I want to invent something like that in the future.
My favorite pavilion is the Germany Pavilion. I watched the Energy Source show. Visitors made a ball swing back and forth (来回摇摆) by using only their voices. It’s amazing! Although we had waited for quite a long time before we entered the hall, I think it is well worth seeing with your own eyes.
I like painting, so my parents took me to the France Pavilion to see the famous paintings. But the French cooks caught my eye. I saw them cook. My mom told me that they are some of the best cooks in the world. The dish they cooked looked like a painting. So, being a cook is my second dream job.
