We may know that there are four basic periods(时期) for human beings to pass through when you enter and live in another country. This process helps you deal with culture shock(冲击).
Culture shock begins with the "honeymoon period". This is the time when you first arrive in a place where everything about the new cu1ture is strange and exciting. You see new things, hear new sounds and language, eat new kinds of food. This period can last for quite a long time because you feel very happy.
Unluckily, the second period can be more difficu1t.  After you have got used to your new life, you can become very tired and begin to miss your motherland, your family, your friends, your pets and so on. Al1 the little prob1ems in life seem to be much bigger and more worrying when you face them in a foreign country. This period can be very difficult and lead to moving backwards quickly.
The third period is called the "adjustment period". This is when you begin to realize that things are not so bad in the new country. Your sense of humor usually becomes stronger and you realize you are becoming stronger by 1earning to take care of yourself in the new place. Things are still difficult, but you are now a survivor.
The fourth period can be cal1ed "at ease at last". Now you feel quite comfortable in your new place. You can deal with most problems that you have. You may still have prob1ems with language, but you know you are strong enough to deal with them. At this time, you may feel a little uncomfortable if you go back to your motherland.

Living in a foreign culture can be exciting, but it can also be confusing(令人迷惑的). Some Americans who taught English in other countries recently talked about their experiences.
On her first day in Micronesia(密克罗尼西亚), an island in the Pacific, Lisa thought people weren’t paying any attention to her. It was hot. She went into a store and asked, “Do you have cold drinks? ” The woman there said nothing. Lisa repeated the question. Still the woman said nothing. She later learned that the woman had answered her: She had raised her eyebrows(眉毛), which in Micronesia means “yes”.
Jane remembered an experience she had in Bulgaria(保加利亚), a country in Europe. She went to a restaurant. She asked the waiter, “Do you have cabbage today?” He nodded his head. Jane waited, but the cabbage never came. In that country, a nod means “no”.
Tom had a similar problem when he arrived in India. After explaining something in class, he asked his students if they understood. Some nod and others shake. He thought some students had not understood, so he explained again. When he asked again, they did the same thing. He soon knew that his students did understand. Years ago,if a teenager had some problems in his life,he might write them in his diary. Now he might get on the Internet and write them in his blog(博客). In many ways,a diary and a blog are almost the same. Then, what makes a blog different from a diary?
The biggest difference is that a blog is much more public than a diary. Anyone can read what you write in your blog. Usually,a teenager likes hiding his diary book and treats it as secret. If you are not satisfied with a friend and write something bad about him in your diary,he will never know it. However,if you do this on the Internet, that friend may read your blog and get angry. So we have to be careful of what we write.
A blog has good points,of course. People choose to write in blogs, they know that their friends will read what they write. If you feel sad one day and write in your diary,no one will know about it. If you write the same words in your blog, your friends may quickly write back to comfort you and offer their help. Blogs help people know what their friends are doing.
Though it's a good way to write blogs about everyday life,I still prefer my old diary.
