Long ago, there lived a clever man in China. He was famous for his wide knowledge. And lots of people from all over the country came to learn things from him. The great man taught his students with all his heart and answered their questions with great patience(耐心).
One day a student asked him, “My dear teacher, didn’t you say you have more questions than we do? But we think we students have a lot more than you.” With a smile, the teacher drew two circles—one is as large as a big plate, and the other smaller.
“Of course, I’ve learned much more. But I don’t think I know all you know. Now, look at these two circles:Inside the big one is my knowledge of things, and inside the smaller one is yours. Out of the circles is what we don’t know. My circle is larger, so its line is longer. That means I have more chances to meet with what I don’t know. And that’s why I have more questions than you. The more you learn, the more questions you’ll have. You will never learn enough, you know.”

Many people love going on a trip by plane, because planes are fast. But an airport(机场) is usually far away from the city, and it usually takes hours to get out of the airport and into the city. You have to get there and wait for the plane to take off for hours. You can not open the window, and you can not have delicious food.
I like travelling by train. I think trains are the safest(最安全的). Train stations are usually in cities. When you are late for a train, you can catch another one. You can walk around in the train and look out of the window. You can see many interesting things on your way. I know it takes some time.
I also like cars. You can start your trip when you want to, and you don’t need to get to a station. You can carry many things with you, too. But sometimes there are many cars on the road.

If you go into the forest with friends, stay with them. If you don’t, you may get lost. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends, but let them find you instead(相反). You can help them find you by(通过)staying in one place. There is another way to help your friends or other people to find you. You can shout or whistle(吹口哨)three times. Stop for a while. Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal(信号)given three times is a help.
Keep up shouting or whistling. Always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making a noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house with branches(树枝). Make yourself a bed with leaves and grass.
When you need some water, you have to leave your little branch house to look for it. Don’t just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop(扔下)them as you walk in order to(为了,以便于)go back again easily. When you are lost, the most important thing to do is stay in one place.

We have arrived in the hot, wet city of Bangkok. This is our first trip to Thailand(泰国). All the different smells make us want to try the food. We are going to eat something special for dinner tonight. The hotel we are staying in is cheap, and very clean. We plan to stay here for a few days, visit some places in the city, and then travel to Chiang Mai in the North.
Tuesday, March 27th
Bangkok is wonderful and surprising! The places are interesting. We visited the famous market which was on water, and saw a lot of fruits and vegetables. Everything is so colorful, and we have taken hundreds of photos already! Later today we will leave for Chiang Mai. We will take the train north, stay in Chiang Mai for two days, and then catch a bus to Chiang Rai.
Friday,March 30th
Our trip to Chiang Rai was long and boring. We visited a small village in the mountains. The village people here love the quiet life -- no computers or phones. They are the kindest people I have ever met. They always smile and say “hello”. Kathy and I can only speak a few words of Thai, so smiling is the best way to show our kindness. I feel good here and hope to be able to come back next year.

“BANG!” the door caused a reverberation (回声). It was just standing there, with father standing on one side, and I was on the other side. We were both in great anger. “Never set foot in this house again!” stormed father. I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street. The street lights were shining, causing rather a sad feeling.
A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me. I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and carefree. But now … I don’t know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old. We differ in our ways of thinking. He always put his opinions and codes of behavior on me. Whenever I do something wrong, he never admits it. We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. I wandered in the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived ,I saw that the light was still on.
I thought to myself: “Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me?”
All the lights were off except father’s. Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After an argument he has the habit of creeping up(悄悄地来到) in my sleep. This was how he always was.He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature. With the key in hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door tears ran down my cheeks. I suddenly realized that the iron(铁的) door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all. Love—it’s second to none.
