I showed him newspaper articles of my accident. “There is a whole life waiting for us out there! But I am not going to         you. You are going to walk yourself.”

“What did you show him?” I had to know. Grandma looked at me and smiled. “Two engagement rings, of course. I had bought them the day          he left for the war and I was not going to waste them on any other man.”

When I was small, my mum used to give the family something special for meals — she would make breakfast food for dinner.
I still remember one night my mum put some bread in front of my dad, something very burnt. I waited to see if anybody noticed. To my surprise, my dad just took his       , smiled at my mum and then turned to ask me how my day at school had been. I’ve forgotten what I told him that night.       I do remember watching him put some butter on that bread. He     as usual, every single bit.
After dinner, my mum said sorry to my dad for burning the bread. And I never forget what he said, “I        burnt bread, dear. It doesn’t matter at all. ”
, I went to kiss Dad good night.I asked him if he really liked his bread burnt. He held me in arms and      , “Your mum worked very hard all day. She's really tired. And you see—a bit of burnt food never hurt anyone!”
Now I know life is not perfect.       is perfect, either. As for me, I often forget birthdays or some other special days. But I’ve learned something        over these years. Scientists are trying to find out how things affect our feelings. How you feel is controlled by many things, such as your personality(性格), the actions(行动) of others. Maybe you don’t know the weather can affect your feelings as well.
People often say they feel good when the sun is shining and sad when it is cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel good. When sunlight hits our skins, our bodies makes vitamin D(维生素D). Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical(化学物质). This special chemical affects our brains and makes us feel happy. For example, there are long, dark winters of little sunlight in Sweden and Norway, so many people in these countries often feel sad. To help the people in these countries feel better, scientists build special “sunrooms” for people to go there and get “sunlight” for an hour or two!
The weather can also affect people’s feelings in other ways. Hot weather can make people angry because people don’t feel comfortable when they are hot. In the same way, rain can make people angry because being wet can be unhappy. As you can see, the weather can have an effect on the chemicals which control our brains. Through these ways, the weather can affect our feelings in these ways. Sadly, while the weather can change us, we cannot change the weather.
小题1:Which of the following is TRUE about vitamin D according to the passage?

小题3:What can we infer(推断) from the passage?

B.We will be happy when we are in the rain.
C.All people in Norway and Sweden feel sad in winter.
D.The less vitamin D you have, the happier you’ll be.
小题4:What may be the best title for this passage?
A.Why Do We Feel Sad
B.The Weather Influences People’s Feelings

D.We Can Change the Weather
