题目内容

Dear Liz,
My stay in Thailand has certainly been the experience of my life.
Life is busy and exciting.Bangkok is just like any other big city with a population of 10  million and heavy traffic.I'm very lucky because my host family is in a nice quiet area outside  the city. There are Mr. and Mrs. Phairat, their son Sanan, who is 18, the daughter Chinda, who  is 16, and Grandpa and Grandma.
I go to an international school with Sanan and Chinda. The school teaches about 70 percent  in English, and 30 percent in Thai. I've learned some spoken language, but Thai writing is very difficult. The cooking lesson is my favourite.I'm learning all about Thai food and culture People don’t use chopsticks here, but spoons and forks. When I come back,I'm going to cook you a real Thai meal.
Last weekend we visited some temples. We also drove to Pattaya beach near Bangkok.I  thought it was great, but Sanan and Chinda say that next month they’re taking me to Phuket  Island, where the beaches are even more beautiful. The month after next,we’re going to travel  to Mr.Phairat,s hometown in the north of Thailand. The Phairats own land there, and they  have two elephants.I’m going to ride those elephants — and even wash them.Sanan and  Chinda say it’s really fun.
I'm amazed by everything in this country, especially by the elephants.Elephants are an  important pan of Thai culture and way of life. They have been a traditional symbol(象征)of  Thailand for many years in times of war and peace. In the seventh century,a Thai king trained 20,000 elephants for battle.
I’ll tell you all about my Thai boxing(拳击)lessons next time I write.
Love,
Mandy

Are you tired of the puzzles you usually do? Sudoku is a new choice. Sudoku consists of the Japanese characters Su (meaning “number”) and Doku (meaning “single”), but it was not invented in Japan. It was created by Howard Garnes in 1979. The puzzle was first introduced into Japan by Nikoli Puzzle Company in 1984. In 1986, Kaji Maki, the president of Nikoli made the rules strict and clear. Soon in the same year Sudoku became popular in Japan. In November 2004, The Times, a British newspaper, first printed it in the newspaper. It became an international hit in 2005. Now Sudoku becomes very popular all over the world.
The rule of the puzzle is to fill in the grids (格子) so that every row, every line and every 3×3 box has the numbers 1 to 9. Here is a Sudoku. Please relax and enjoy. It’s fun!

When we talk of plants, most of us will think of things that grow from the ground and have green leaves, but there are plants that do not look or act like other plants. Some of these belong to a special class of plants called fungi.
Fungi may appear almost everywhere. ①They commonly grow in wet places where they can get food and water easily. Because fungi do not have green leaves to make their own food, fungi must take their food from animals, other plants or water. Some fungi live on dead or rotting wood, while others grow on living trees or in dirt or moss(苔藓). Mushrooms(蘑菇) are the best-known fungi.
There are many kinds of mushrooms appearing in all shapes and sizes. For example, cauliflower mushrooms are found in forests from July to October. They can grow to be as heavy as fifty pounds! They grow at the foot of trees. Squirrel’s bread(松茸) is another kind of wild mushroom. Its appearance and use can explain its name. These fungi look like small golden cakes. Squirrels can easily eat them or carry them off to their hole to eat later.
③食品店里的蘑菇是人们精心种植的,可安全食用。People are warned never to touch or taste wild mushrooms, because some of them are deadly. Even less dangerous ones can still make a person very sick.
