Once there was a forest where all the animals lived happily together. One day a family went to spend the day in the forest, and the son left his socks there. After the family left, a bear came by, found the socks, and decided to try them on. They fit so well, and he liked them so much that he wouldn't take them off.
All the animals talked about the bear's new look. Soon, in that forest, there began appearing squirrels in shirts, rabbits in shoes, and even rats (老鼠)  wearing hats! The forest doctor shook his head, telling animals, "This can't be good. Animals don't need clothes!" But no one listened to him. They said he was just out of fashion.
However, it wasn't long before the first results of fashion-fever came. Several times the squirrel caught his shirt on trees, stopping him in mid-jump and sending him falling to the ground from a tree. The rat couldn't go into his hole without taking off his hat first. Even the bear, because of his socks, slipped(滑到) from the river rock and almost killed himself.
When the animals came to see the doctor, he gave them all the same advice, "Take off those clothes before one day they're going to kill you." Christian Bucks may be young, but he sure knows how to be a good friend. When the York, Pennsylvania, second-grader noticed that some of his schoolmates didn’t have anyone to play with during the break time, he came up with a way to help them. He suggested having something called a “buddy bench” put in on his school’s playground.

A buddy bench is a special bench where students can sit if they are feeling bored or lonely. It’s usually brightly colored with “BUDDY BENCH” in big letters. Other students can then go to the bench and ask them if they would like to play or talk.
“We show we care about others when we ask others to play,” Christian told reporters.
Christian first learned about buddy benches when his family was considering moving to Germany. He saw a buddy bench in a handbook for a German school and thought it would be a great way to fight loneliness on the playground at his own school, Roundtown Elementary School.
Christian told Roundtown’s headteacher, Matthew Miller, about his idea at the end of last school year. Miller immediately decided to get a buddy bench. He had Christian pick out its style and bright colors.
“I was the first person who got to sit on the bench when it arrived at Roundtown,” says Christian. He hopes the bench will help “grow our dream circle of friends”.

Felix, a little mouse, looked outside through the window of a farmhouse. Still nobody came. Maybe today, he thought hopefully. It was only a few days before Christmas and he was watching for a miracle(奇迹).
This farmhouse had been empty too long. It needed a family. Felix’s stomach made a noise. He realized that he had eaten nothing since yesterday. He took a bag from his home, and went next door to Farmer Mike’s.
Farmer Mike’s house had been a great place for Felix until the farmer married a wife who had a cat. Felix felt scared when he thought of it. It's not easy to be an astronaut's son. Everybody expects you to be special or perfect. I often wonder how my father ever had a son like me. I mean he's so special and so good at everything he does. Even in middle school he was class monitor and captain of the football team.

Well, to be honest, I often dream about being some kind of hero or doing something special-like saving a child from a burning building or discovering a new star. I was daydreaming at school one morning when my teacher said there would be a Father's Day writing competition for the whole school. "I hope we have a winner right here in my class."
When I got home, I started to think about what to write. My father is an astronaut. No, :I wouldn't start like that. That was the way others saw him. How did I see my father? Hmm...
I saw him sitting with me in the dark when I had a terrible dream. I remembered how he hugged(拥抱 ) me for hours when my dog Spotty was killed by a car. Yes, these were the things I was going to write. To me, he wasn't just a world-famous astronaut. He was my dad.
My parents and l went to school Thursday night. There were so many people in the big hall! My dad looked at me, and I shrugged(耸肩 ).
The third prize was announced and it was not me. I was relieved and disappointed at the same time. The second prize was announced. It was me.
I went up to the stage and read what I had written, "My father's son". When I finished, the people stood up and cheered. I saw my father blowing his nose. Tears (眼泪 ) were running down my mother's face. Dad cleared his throat and put his hand on my shoulder.“Son, this is the proudest moment of my life."
It was the proudest moment of my life, too. Maybe I'll never be a great hero or win a Nobel Prize, but it was enough just to be my father's son.
