There was a man named Raman. One day, he found he was travelling with a group of soldiers. They used to join in a war and soon they started talking about their experiences in the war. One old soldier told the time when he had killed seven enemy (敌人) soldiers. Another described how he acted bravely in a fight. He told the story in detail. When they finished, they looked proudly at Raman.
“I don’t think you have an experience to tell,” said one of the old soldiers.
“Oh, but I have,” said Raman.
“You have?” asked the soldiers.
“Yes,” said Raman. “One day while traveling, I met a big house and entered it. I found the biggest man I had ever seen. He was a man who was used to doing bad things in a country! The people there were all afraid of him.”
“What did you do?” asked the soldiers. They wanted to know more about it.
“I cut off one of his feet and ran away quickly,” said Raman.
“His foot?” said a soldier. “Why didn’t you cut off his head when you had the chance?”
“But somebody had already done that,” said Raman.
