题目内容

Five years ago, I met her in a shopping center. I was walking through the shop when I saw her. Then she came back to my house with me. After that, we became friends.
Once she had to go into hospital to have an operation(手术) on her leg. I was worried about her and looked after her every day. I made breakfast for her. I was not good at cooking, but she never complained. I also helped her take showers.
I have no idea why we can be good friends, because she is quite different from me. I like writing, reading and playing computer games. But she loves outdoor activities. She likes playing balls best. She also loves sleeping.

Science fiction is a popular kind of writing, and many people think of Jules Verne as the father of science fiction. He was born in France in 1828. His father wanted him to become a lawyer(律师), but when he was about twenty years old, Verne decided to become a writer. At first he wrote plays for the theater. Then, in 1863, he wrote a story called Five Weeks in a Balloon. Are you a man or a mouse? When people ask this question they want to know     you think you are a     person or a coward (懦夫). But you will never really know the answer to this question     you are tested in real life. Some people    they are brave but when they come face to face with real    , they act like cowards. Others think of themselves as cowards, but when they meet danger, they act like heroes.
Lenny had always thought of himself as a nervous person. He got worried before examinations. He worried about his job and health. All he wanted in life was to be safe and healthy. But    December 15th, 2013, a plane crashed into a river in Washington. Lenny went to the river to see what was happening. He saw a woman in the     water. Lenny did not feel afraid. He behaved very    and did a very dangerous thing. He jumped into the river and    to the woman, and kept her head above the water. Seventy-eight people died that day. Thanks to Lenny, it was not    .
When you are in a very dangerous situation and feel afraid, the body automatically(自动地) produces a chemical in the blood. The chemical is called adrenalin(肾上腺素). With adrenalin in the blood system, you actually feel stronger and stronger and are ready to fight.

I have always wanted to share this story because it is one of the things that I will remember for my whole life. And I’m sure the other person feels the same.
We had a new teacher in my middle school World History class. She was very nice and excited to see us. She told a story about her       fighting in a war and brought a picture of him. After about fifteen       of her talking, the class started talking softly to each other     they were getting bored. Looking     , she asked “So, you guys don’t really want to hear any more?” No one dared to say “no” to her loud     one kid. He said, “No, not really!”       a disrespectful(无礼的) way. Some kids were a little       and thought that it was rather rude.
I felt really bad for this teacher. No one should be    in such a disrespectful manner. Therefore, near the end of the class I went up and said       to her for the guy’s rude behavior. I told her I had been listening, and even though I may not really like      , I was grateful to her for sharing her story. I asked her       about her father and asked to see the picture of him. We had a very nice, sincere conversation about her father.
The teacher was touched. She thanked me for coming up and actually treating her with the respect(尊敬) that she deserved. I felt at full peace with       knowing that I did the right thing and I was super happy that I made her day. Even though I didn’t really care for history, I       listened, and I hope that others in different situations will do the same. Listening means a lot to the people sharing; it really      . If I had just left the class without saying a word, I would have felt very       and would have a constant reminder, probably to this day, that justice(公义) was not served and I had left a person in their time of need.

Legend has it that an apple which fell from its branches was the inspiration for Sir Isaac Newton’s discovery of gravity(引力). But now history’s famous fruit tree is paying the price of fame.
The thousands of visitors drawn to Sir Isaac’s childhood home each year could be damaging the tree. A willow barrier(围栏)has been put around the tree. It means visitors to the 17th century Woolsthorpe Manor, near Grantham, Lincolnshire, will no longer be able to sit under its branches as Newton was said to have been doing in 1665 when “the notion of gravitation came to mind.”
The National Trust, which owns the small manor(庄园)where Newton was born in 1642, said the 2ft-high barrier was designed to preserve the tree. Official Ann Moynihan said there had been no damage so far but warned that there could soon be a problem.“Visitor numbers have gone up by around 50 percent, to 33,000 a year in three years. The more people who visit, the more the earth will become compacted(压实) around the tree and over the roots. We just want to preserve the tree for another 400 years if we can.”She said visitors will still be able to take apples from the tree.
Visitor Chris Gwyther,37,said,“I suppose it is a pity that you can’t sit under the tree like Newton. But you can still see it and the tree is 400 years old, it needs saving for the future.”
Newton left no information saying he had been inspired by a falling apple. The story appeared in a book by French philosopher Voltaire published in 1727, the year Newton died at the age of 84.
