Art lovers around the world have thought about this question for so many years: what is the secret behind the Mona Lisa’s smile?
However, they can ask Mona Lisa herself in the interactive exhibition (交互式展览) in Beijing. This exhibition brings the 500-year-old painting to life.
Now Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting can move her head and wave (挥舞) her hand in 3D, and even answer questions. She can answer the questions about her life, her age and so on. But when she talks she doesn’t speak Italian but Chinese like: “Da jia hao, wo jiao Mengna Lisha. Hen gao xing jian dao ni men.”
The new, digital (数码的) picture of Mona Lisa is the center piece of the World Classic Interactive Arts Exhibition in Beijing. You can also see other world-famous paintings such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Last Supper is another picture that they made alive with 3D. In this picture, Jesus (基督耶稣) can walk and talk with his believers (信徒).
It took the organizer Wang Hui and over 400 digital artists in South Korea two years to make the picture, at a cost of around 50 million yuan.
He says, “What’s special about it is that it’s the first time to use computer technology (技术) to make her speak and move.”

It's also important to have real experience with languages, cultures and societies different from your own, she noted.
Studying overseas could also benefit future international relations. It could help young people from different countries work together to deal with shared problems such as climate change, Mrs. Obama said.

During the Winter Olympics in Sochi(索契), 25,000 volunteers from Russia and other countries provided services for athletes and guests. The student Oksana Verkholyak helped translate Russian into English and Korean at the Games. She told us about their usual day.
“We get up at 7:30 in the morning. Then we have breakfast. Usually we have porridge for breakfast. There is always tea, coffee, bread and pies. After breakfast, we head for a bus stop and get on a bus which runs to the media center. It takes us 30 minutes to get there,” she said.
When volunteers arrived there, they went through the security (安全) check point. They couldn’t bring water or food with them. “Security guards check our bags. We are not allowed to have things made of metals. They check phones, video cameras, electric equipment and computers,” Oksana added.
In the evening volunteers got back to the apartment buildings. All of them were like one big family. They lived together and got some rest together—after dinner they went to the beach to watch the sunset.
Not only students helped organize the Sochi Olympics. There were many so-called silver volunteers who retired but didn’t lose interest in sports. Some of the volunteers had an experience working at the Olympic Games in other countries and even at the Moscow Olympics in 1980.
