Can kowtow show our gratitude to parents?

It is common during the Spring Festival for some people to show their gratitude to the elders in the way of kowtow. Is it acceptable? Seen from its advantages, kowtow, a traditional way to show respect, can prove young people’s sincere affection to their parents. However, as to its disadvantages, kowtow can’t be praised entirely because some children can’t realize its important meaning. Meanwhile, kowtow is considered as a feudal or unfashionable way that young people may refuse.

Therefore, in my opinion, rather than kowtow, we can choose some other practical ways to express our gratitude. For example, we can help our parents with housework, which reduces the parents’ burden. Also, we should study hard, and show our gratitude to the parents with excellent grades.
