Text 5 W: There were so many people on the bus. I would rather I had walked here. M: OK, next time, you'd better walk. Text 6 W: The house is beautiful. We are so lucky. M: Tell me about it. W: Well, it has a nice living room, a dining room and two large bedrooms. M: It sounds wonderful. What about the kitchen? W: It's quite modern. It has a new fridge and an eletric stove. It also has a very nice dishwasher. M: Do you have furniture yet? W: No. We're going shopping tomorrow. Text 7 M: What are you going to do tonight, Betty? W: I'm going to eat at the new Chinese restaurant. M: Really? I was there last night. W: Were there many people there? M: Yes, a lot. W: How was the food? M: It was delicious. M: No…No, it won't start now. W: Could we be out of gas? M: No, I'm sure we are not out of gas. W: Let's check the gas meter. Oh, see, it's on “empty”. M: I was sure the tank was half full! Better bring a jacket and good walking shoes. W: Well, when do we leave? M: How about Thursday? Can you be ready by noon? W: No problem. Text 10 Welcome to Yellow Stone National Park. Before we begin our nature walk today, I'd like to give you a short history of our National Park Service. The National Park Service began in the late 1800's. A small group of people found the land now called “Yellow Stone”, and after hours of discussion around a campfire they decided that it should be enjoyed by everyone. Two years later the government declared that it became the first national park in the world. After it became a public park, many other areas of beautiful scenery were set aside and in 1916 these parks began to be managed by the National Park Service. I'm now employed by the National Park Service and I am on duty to answer questions at all time and campfire walks are offered by specially trained members. The park service also protects the animals and plants within the parks. |
