Road accidents
Traffic accident is one of human beings’ fatal enemies. In recent years , the number of road accidents has been on the rise , especially in big cities. Whenever they happen , the people involved are either injured or killed , which causes great losses both to the country and to their families. Therefore , it is high time that we took measures to reduce traffic accidents and make our life safe.
The major cause for traffic accidents is lack of safety awareness . There are several ways to cut down the accident rate . Firstly, the best way to reduce the number of traffic accident is to enhance people's awareness towards safety driving. Therefore to complete a safety driving education course is a very important way to reduce the number of traffic accidents.  Secondly .the government authorities should educate people in every possible way to obey traffic regulations. Finally, people should be careful when crossing streets . I am convinced that if we do our best , we’ll make our roads safe.

Recently I took part in an English speech contest and successfully went into the final. That day, I thought I had done a good job. At that moment I even had a strong feeling of being the champion. But my dream was soon shattered when my final score was announced. I stood in the hall, feeling empty-minded and puzzled. My memory went back to when I was in junior middle school. I took part in a similar speech contest. I was too proud of myself. I was not well prepared, so it ended up as a total failure. But this time should be different! I had spent a lot of time tailoring each word. Why was it all in vain and I had to be a loser again? Very frustrated, I swore not to take part in this kind of competition again.
I was just about to leave when a well-known TV host suddenly said to me he did appreciate my speech. On hearing this, I was filled with mixed feelings---partly surprised, partly excited, partly sad, but there was one thing I am certain about---I did feel something warm and comforting floating inside my body. I never knew a few words and a kind smile could be so inspiring that I suddenly realized that frustration, sorrow, happiness and inspiration are treasures to make life more meaningful. It is these elements that make life real.

The Importance of a Good Education
Getting a good education may be the most important price you can pay, because, perhaps more than anything else, what you do with that huge gray material between your ears will determine your future. These words actually describe millions of people worldwide who choose to limit their potential ability by not widening their education.
A person is much more likely to have better job offers, more successful career with a better education. This, in turn, would allow for much better life style. For example, compare two men. The first person is a high school dropout. The second has a law degree. The high school dropout will be fortunate to get a job in food services, making less than twenty thousand dollars a year, barely surviving each week. To contrast this, the person with the law degree will certainly have a successful career as a lawyer, making over $ 70,000 annually. The lawyer will, of course, have a very wealthy lifestyle. Statistics show that high school dropouts make 42% less money than college graduates.
Our generation will become doctors, lawyers, teachers and leaders of tomorrow. To do this successfully, a higher level of education is very important! We must crave learning. This, in turn, will pay for not only our future but also will help to insure success for those who follow.

If I were a boy again, I would practise my perseverance（毅力） more often, and never give up a thing because it was hard or inconvenient. If we want light, we must conquer(战胜)darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius（天赋）in its results. If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; I would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit of attention would become part of our life if we began early enough. If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to the cultivation（培养）of the memory. I would strengthen that skill by every possible way, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first to remember things accurately; But memory soon helps itself, and gives very little trouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.
