Susan: I¡¯m so glad to see you, David.   Ð¡Ìâ1:   has been such a long time. How are you?
David: I¡¯m fine, and you?
Susan: I¡¯m just wonderful. God, time goes by so quickly! Are you going to the air quality conference in Chicago?
David: I am. And I¡¯m really glad to see you. Just last night I found your name in the conference materials, but it didn¡¯t come to my    Ð¡Ìâ2:   that we would meet on the plane.
Susan: I¡¯m afraid I haven¡¯t had time to look at     Ð¡Ìâ3:    conference materials very carefully. I had no idea you were coming, but I am certainly glad to see you. I was feeling very nervous about going there    Ð¡Ìâ4:    friends.
David: I can imagine. My English has gotten not so fluent since I returned from the States,  Ð¡Ìâ5:   I¡¯m rather nervous myself. But I saw that you    Ð¡Ìâ6: _(give) the most important talk at the conference.
Susan:    Ð¡Ìâ7:  (frank) speaking, I¡¯m scared to death about it.
David: I¡¯m just giving a talk in one of the workshop sections, and I hope I won¡¯t make all of you     ___СÌâ8:  (disappoint).
Susan: But your English is much    Ð¡Ìâ9:   (good) than mine.
David: But you¡¯re now the Director of the Air Quality Institute, so you    Ð¡Ìâ10:  know the technical terms.
Susan: Maybe. But I still can¡¯t understand totally a lot of technical terms in my field.
You can¡¯t avoid a conflict(³åÍ») at work. If you can avoid a conflict, it means you will win what you want regardless of what the other person wants. Since the potential issue has not been removed, it will  appear later. Here are the necessary tips on handling conflicts at work.
¡ï Realize that some conflicts are unavoidable at work. On numerous occasions, conflict and disagreement are likely to happen. But when a conflict happens it¡¯s not the end of the world. On the contrary, it can be the beginning of an interesting learning process. Conflicts mean that people care enough to disagree strongly. The trick is not to allow the conflict to go on forever.
¡ï Handle conflicts sooner rather than later. Solve a conflict when it starts, as it only gets worse with time going by. Conflicts at work arise not from something that was said, but from something that wasn¡¯t said! Everyone¡¯s waiting for the other to admit he¡¯s wrong and gets more unpleasant after the conflict has lasted a while. It¡¯s essential to interrupt the ¡°waiting game¡± before it gets to that point.
¡ï Ask nicely. If somebody has done something that made you angry, or if you don¡¯t understand their viewpoint or actions, simply asking nicely about it can make a world of difference.  Never assume that people do what they do to annoy or hurt you. Sometimes there¡¯s a good reason why that person does what he or she does, and a potential conflict disappears right there. Do remember to make an inquiry, not a blame of any sort.
¡ï Appreciate. Praise the other part in the conflict. Tell them why it¡¯s worth it to you to solve the conflict.  This can be difficult as few people find it easy to praise and appreciate a person they disagree strongly with, but it is a great way to move forward.
