Dear Mrs Winthorp,

　　So my first week at college is over! No lectures this morning so I think I'd email you and let you know what things are going．

　　I'm glad to say that anything has worked out fine in the dorm．I remember asking for a room as far away from the lifts as possible and they find me a comfortable one on second floor．There are two girls from my course here and I plan to make friend with them so they we can help each other on the course work．Everyone else seems very nice and warmly here．

　　Well, I had better to stop now．I'm going to attend mine first lesson this aftemoon, for I've got some preparation to make, Keep in touch．

In order to realize his dream, Bill Gates, richest man in the world, gave up studying in Harvard．University, that is the most famous in the world．He set up a company and researching the computer software．As an old saying go, “Interest is the best teacher．” I quite agree with this idea．I began to be crazy about English when I was a little girl．I got extreme interested in foreign cultures or customs．To meet me curiosity, I read in English stories every day．It seemed to be the best “meal” of a day．As a result, I always did very well in English exam．Interest is the key of success．

The Student Union has set up this Happy Club．The club aims at help the students be positive in dealing with the problems and challenges they met．According to our plan, we’ll regular invite experts to our club give lectures on some of the major psychological problems, after that discussions will be held．We can exchange your experience about what to deal with stress and make progress in our study．However, we have some more practical plan to make our club active and appealing．For example, we’ll hold an English Corner on every Saturday afternoon．And you are welcomed to join our club．

This morning I was about to leave for school then suddenly I heard my name called．She was Mother．“ John, puts on more clothes, and you'll catch cold．It is so cold outside．” “ I don't think it is cold today,” I said impatiently, ran away before she could say a word．Seated in front of the classroom, I was listening to my teacher careful．However, it was not yet nine o'clock when it was started to snow．I began to shake with cold．After all, a thin jacket is poor protection of the cold weather．I caught a bad cold．If only I had followed Mother's advices!

It was fine on April 8, 2010．That day all the students in our class go to the suburb of our city to plant trees．On we arriving at the planting place at 8 o'clock , the teacher asked each of us to plant 5 trees at least．Then we set out digging, planting and watering．All of us were going all out finish our task, afraid of falling behind．Between us, our monitor set a good example to us．In spite of his illness, he accepted his task and finished it ahead of the time．Then he went on to help other without a little rest．After work, he was wet all over．He looked pale, and he was full of joy．Looked at the lines of young trees, we smiled pleasant, forgetting our tiredness．

My car just wouldn’t move any farther. It was complete dead, and I was a few
miles away from anywhere in that cold, wet night. I decided walk around a little before
accepting I’d have to spend the night in the car. Maybe I can find a telephone. Actually,
I didn’t have to walk far before I found the small house standing in a field with a light
shone from the sitting room. I knocked at the door and was delighting when a pleasant
old man opened the door but listened to my story carefully. He said he had no
telephone, and it wasn’t any within walking distance, but the old man who offered to
go to repair my car.
