Recently my class took part in the social practice organized by our school, in which we
conducted a survey among kids aged 5-14 about their extra-curriculum activities. The results are as follows.
As is illustrated in the chart, both boys and girls have a strong preference for watching TV or videos with the percentage ranking first at 100%. More boys than girls enjoy skateboarding or rollerblading, bike riding and electronic or computer games as leisure activities, each accounting for nearly 40% , 70% and 80%. However, girls outnumber boys by almost 20% when it comes to art and craft.
We can draw a conclusion from this survey that according to the data, passive pursuits are far more popular nowadays than active ones and that those who opt for creative pastimes are in the minority.
In my opinion, since the addiction to watching TV or videos or playing computer games is likely to do harm to children’s health, parents should be responsible for limiting the children’s time spent on passive leisure activities. In addition, more emphasis should be attached to activities that can encourage children to develop their creativity and build up physical health.  (165 words)
