【题目】— Mum, may I watch TV for a while?

—As soon as all your homework________, you can.

A.will finishB.finishesC.is finishedD.will be finished

【答案】C

【解析】

句意:——妈妈。我可以看一会电视吗?——只要你所有的作业一完成,就可以看电视。

考查动词时态和语态的用法。will finish将会完成;finishes完成,动词单三形式;is finished被完成,被动语态;will be finished将被完成。根据“As soon as all your homework…”可知homeworkfinish的承受者,使用被动语态,且homework是不可数名词;因as soon as引导的时间状语从句中,用一般现在时表示将来。故选C

【题目】 Parking has been a problem for drivers for a long time in Taizhou. The Transportation Department is mapping out a new plan for the city’s parking system. There are about 100 thousand cars on the road in Taizhou but only enough parking space to provide room for 15 percent of these vehicles. It is no wonder that local drivers get so worried trying to find a place to park.

The number of the private car owners is becoming larger and larger. In March, the city sent out 1,500 private car licenses, the highest number of licenses ever sent out in a month. And prices rose to over 2000yuan, 500 more than in February. Industry experts say this suggests that local people want to have their own cars.

By the year 2020, the number of cars in Taizhou will probably reach 200 thousand. If one parking lot is for each car, then a lot of parking space should be built for these vehicles. The center of Taizhou is most short of parking space. However, experts point out that simply building more parking lots in these areas is not practical and doesn’t solve the problem. The idea of “ Park & Ride ” system. This has been suggest means that underground train and city train should be developed quickly. Drivers can leave their vehicles in car parks near subway and bus stations and then they can ride public transport to go to the city center. Based on this idea, the city will cut down the number of parking lots in the city center and need higher parking fees. Meanwhile it will build more parking areas near main subway and bus stops.

Subject: Hello from Edinburgh!

Dear Aleks,

This is my second month in Edinburgh — can you believe it? I love it here. I’m so happy I decided to go to university in Scotland.

Life is very different here. I share an apartment (公寓) with two other students. Each day I get up at around 7:30 am and walk to the university alone. On the way I eat breakfast in a coffee shop. At university I have classes all morning. My classmates come from all over the world — there are lots of Chinese and Nigerian people. We all have lunch together in the dining hall — usually sandwiches. In the afternoon I read books in the library. In the evening I go to the cinema or go for a walk around the town with my classmates, except on Fridays and Saturdays, when I wash the dishes at an Italian restaurant. I’m even learning some Italian!

I miss living at home, especially Mum’s cooking and your jokes. Edinburgh is very small compared with our city Toronto in Canada. And it’s cold, even in summer!

I miss you, little brother — write soon!

Yours,

Stan
