There are lots of tests(测试) in schools, like English tests, maths tests and running tests. Have you ever heard about a bicycle riding test? Some students in China are having this new test.

To make students safe on the roads, some schools are holding bicycle riding tests for students over 12 years old. The schools also give classes about traffic rules. Students can learn to ride a bicycle with the help of their teachers. The test includes(包括) riding skills, such as the moves of getting on and off, making 90 degrees turn, passing through a narrow road, riding on the path in the shape of S and stopping suddenly.

Once they pass the test, they will get a “riding license”. Many students ride to school in China. Most students and parents welcome this new test.

Schools in Shanghai first asked their students over 12 to take a “riding license” about 10 years ago. Students can’t go to school by bicycle without a license.

Without classes and exams, summer vacation(假期) is a good time for Australian kids. To me, it means much more than not going to school. It’s also a good opportunity to spend time with my family because I have little time with them during the school year.

Last summer I travelled with my family to the Hawkesbury River in Western Sydney. It was one of the most interesting summer vacations of my life.

Staying by the river helped us run away from the hot weather and noise of the city. Everybody played, including(包括) my grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters. First, we went water-skiing, then we enjoyed wakeboarding and other activities. These activities brought our family closer together.

In the warm afternoon, we quietly read a favourite book under a tree by the river. The days always ended with a campfire. Everyone sat around the fire talking and laughing(笑).

The river is an enjoyable place for you to forget about all the worries of everyday life and simply(仅仅) enjoy the moment. To me, it is a wonderful place to spend time together as a family during one of the best times of the year. I can’t help thinking about those days again and again, even so many months later.
