Several dead after woman fought with driver, causing bus to fall in China river. By the Associated Press, Friday, November 2nd, 2018 |
BEIJING (AP)--A fight between a bus driver and a woman passenger who missed her stop caused the bus to fall off a high bridge into China's Yangtze River. Wanzhou police said the 48-year old woman passenger asked the driver to stop after she missed her stop, but the driver didn't. She walked up to the driver's seat and talked angrily with him. The driver turned his head several times to talk angrily. Some of people tried to stop them, but it didn't work. The woman strongly hit the driver on the head with her mobile phone. The driver took his right arm off the steering wheel(方向盘)and fought back, then quickly turned to the left, making the bus out of control. Thirteen people, including the two drivers died at once. Another two died on the way to hospital. The doctors rushed to the place at the news of the accident. By 5 a.m., all of the injured(伤者)were sent to three local hospitals for treatment. A hospital said most of the patients were in a good condition, but a few were still in danger. Because of the icy roads, the highway was closed by police sine Tuesday morning. But the bus driver chose the dangerous road, paying no attention to the warnings. According to a 2009 national public survey, traffic accidents were considered as people's third biggest problem.
