【题目】Manners are very important for our daily life. There are many different customs and habits among different countries. We must find out and follow their customs so that they will not think us ill-mannered. Here are examples of the things that a person with good education should do.
If you visit a Chinese family, you should knock at the door first. When the door opens, you will not move before the host says “Come in, please.” After you enter the room, you would not sit down until the host asks you to take a seat. When a cup of tea is sent to your hand, you should say“Thank you”and receive it with two hands. Before entering a house in Japan, it is good manners to take off your shoes. In European countries, even though shoes sometimes become very dirty, this is not done. In a Malay house, a visitor always leaves a little food to show that he has had enough. In England, a visitor always finishes the food to show that he has enjoyed it. The host will be pleased with that.
You have to give your present in public in the Middle East to show it is not a bribe. But it’s good manners to give your present in private in Asia. You mustn’t give knives in Latin America because it suggests that you want to cut off the relationship. You mustn’t give your food to Arabia because it suggests that you think your host isn’t offering you enough to eat .
“Come any time” means “I want you to visit me” in India. If you don’t suggest a time at once, the India will think you are refusing the invitation. But if an Englishman says “Come any time”, they will think you are impolite if you start fixing a date.

【题目】Do you think WeChat can keep families close? Some students say yes while some say no.
YES
Xing Yuxi, 12, Chongqing
I like to have a family group on WeChat. It’s important to have a good relationship with our family members, as we love them more than anyone else in the world. In my family’s WeChat group, we often share photos that show our daily lives. We freely talk about our work school, or even entertainment. It is nice to communicate with people who know me well.
Wang Wenyi, 12, Guangdong
WeChat family groups can help us do lots of things. For example, if you have a big announcement (通知) to make to your family, you can just send a single message to the group instead of contacting each member separately (分开地). This saves a lot of time. Also, different family members often live far away from each other. Not everyone contacts every other family member often. But family groups allow us to share our lives with everyone.
NO
Ma Jingwen, 14, Sichuan
I used to be in my family’s WeChat group, but I’m not in it anymore. I don’t think it is very useful. Every morning, my family members all send the same emoji (表情), which says “good morning, my friends". The emojis look really old-fashioned, with shining or spinning (旋转的) Chinese characters (汉字). They’re annoying to me. On weekends, they share many pictures while I’m trying to study. My phone keeps ringing, “which really distracts (使…... …分神) me.
Hong Weicheng, 12, Guangdong
Many people share their photos, addresses, and other private information in their WeChat family groups, which is not safe. Also, the long texts and continuous voice messages are annoying to me. My family members often talk about stuff (东西) that has nothing to do with me, but I have to spend time checking the messages anyway. It causes me to spend more time on my phone. It is bad for my eyes.
