【题目】(A)根据短文回答问题。
Rachel Beckwith is a little girl. For her 9th birthday, she didn’t ask for toys, dolls or a new pair of shoes. Instead, she made a selfless(无私的)wish: She wanted her friends and family to donate money to the charity for water, so that people in developing countries could have clean drinking water.
“On June 12th,2011,I’m turning 9,” she wrote on her fundraising(募捐)page. “I found that millions of people don’t live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn’t have clean or safe water, so I’m celebrating my birthday like never before. I’m asking everyone I know to donate instead of buying gifts for my birthday.”
Rachel’s goal amount was $300,but she only raised $220 from her friends and family. That didn’t bother her much, though—she thought she could raise more the following year. Unluckily, that’s not to be: Rachel was a passenger in one of the 14 cars involved(牵涉)in a highway accident. After spending several days in a hospital, she closed her eyes on Saturday. The news of her death became known, and so did the story of her fundraising wish. Now, Rachel’s fundraising page has received donations from more than four thousand people, over $84,000.All of that money will go towards building wells in developing countries.

【题目】
Hi, I’m Mike. I work as a writer for GROWING UP. I hope I can help you with your problems. |
Q Dear Mike, I’m not very good at giving advice to other people. A friend of mine recently bought some Nike trainers online, but they were fake (假的). Everyone except him can tell that they’re fake. I don't know how to bring this up with him. Can you give me some advice? – xxximaaa |
A Dear xxximaaa, A long time ago, a friend of mine told me what he liked most about me. It was that I always ‘kept it real’. Do you know the meaning of it? It means being honest and open, even when your thought is unpopular. I suggest that you keep it real with your friend. If no one else is brave enough to tell him about his shoes, then maybe you should be the one to do it. You don’t have to do it in a mean (刻薄的) way. Just go to your friend secretly and bring it up. Your friend will thank you because you are honest. On the other hand, who really cares if the shoes are fake? Is it really that big of a deal? Maybe you should just forget about it. If other people are making fun of him for having fake shoes, they really have a problem. – Mike |
If you have problems when growing up, I recommend you GROWING UP! |
