【题目】What is the most important invention of all time? Is it the written word that helps us to record information? Is it the telephone that lets us talk to people from all over the world? Is it the car that lets us travel at great speeds to meet others? Umberto Eco, an Italian writer, thinks it is something quite different. He says the most important invention might be bright in front of your eyes. He is talking about a simple pair of glasses.

Modern eye glasses were invented around 1000 years ago. They were more than just a convenient way to read. Before glasses, writers, scientists or teachers who could not see properly had to memorize everything. After about ten years of poor eyesight, they could not remember well enough and could not work. Glasses meant that people could work in their old age.

People who wanted to remember some information could write it down and read it. Eye glasses are one of the world’s greatest inventions and were probably worn by the people who designed the first telephones and cars.

Hi, dear boys and girls! Do you know how to be a healthy kid? Here are some rules you should follow.

First, eat different foods, especially fruit and vegetables. You may have a favourite food, but you’d better eat something different. If you eat different foods, you will probably get more nutrients(营养物质)your body needs.

Second, drink water and milk as often as possible. When you’re really thirsty, cold water is the No. 1 choice. Milk is a great drink that can give you more calcium your body needs to get strong bones.

Third, listen to your body. How do you feel when you are full? When you are eating, notice how your body feels and when your stomach feels comfortably full. Eating too much will not make you feel comfortable and make you fat.

Fourth, limit screen time. Screen time is the time you watch TV, DVDs and videos, or using computers. It’s good to take more exercise such as basketball, bike riding and swimming. You can’t watch TV for more than two hours a day.

【题目】Children know that summer is probably the most fun of all seasons. However, experts say it is also the most dangerous, especially for children aged 14 and under. In its first study of children's safety in the U.S., the National Safe Kids Campaign (NSKC) found that nearly half of the injuryrelated(与受伤相关的) deaths among children happened in summer.

Experts are not surprised by the study's results. They always know summer is a dangerous season for children. During the summer, children are out of school and spend more time outdoors. They are more likely to get into an accident or be injured. “While we encourage children to be active and spend more time outdoors, they need to understand the importance of safety,” said Everett Koop, an expert of the NSKC.

To help children stay safe, the NSKC started a “Make It a Safe Kids Summer” campaign during National Safe Kids Week, from May 5 to May 12. Here are some important summer safety tips from the NSKC:
