Photography is a way of making pictures by using light. The word “photography” means “to draw with light”.
A camera is used to take a photo. The camera focuses(使聚焦) reflected light from an object, or scene, and records this light onto film(胶片) or a digital chip(数字芯片). The film, or information on the digital chip, can then be processed(冲洗) into a photo.
The idea of taking photos has been around for hundreds of years. However, it was not until 1826 that an inventor was able to take the first photo. He took this photo by covering a metal plate with light-sensitive(感光的) chemicals and exposing(暴露) it to light through a camera lens(镜头).
Over the next 50 years, photographers moved from using metal plates to glass plates and finally to light-sensitive film to record an image.
Today, light-sensitive film is still used. However, digital technology(技术) has become more popular, and most images are now recorded inside cameras on a digital chip.
