Have you ever wondered what an American high school and its students are really like?

A typical (典型的) American high school has several large buildings and enough s for about 1,500 students. Every student is given a locker. Vitamins (维他命) help our bodies grow strong and stay healthy. We need vitamins every day and we have to get them from the food we eat. There are two types of vitamins. Some of them live in the fat in our body and stay in our bodies. Others live in the water in our bodies. They don't stay around for long. Which foods do we get our vitamins from? And why do we need them?

Let's start with the fat soluble (可溶的) vitamins. A. D and E.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C is good for our bones, teeth and even our brains (大脑). We get this vitamin from oranges, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes. Vitamin C also helps us keep other important substances, such as iron in our body.

We should eat a good variety of fruit and vegetables－at least five a day－and lots of other healthy foods like brown bread, milk, eggs and fish. That way, we always get the vitamins we need.
