Rick Liu is a tall young man who was born in the port city of Suao. He is very strong and healthy, and enjoys working outside. Rick's father is a fisherman and works on the sea all year round When he returns to port,Rick's mother often helps him with hundreds of fish and fix the nets. Rick loves to go fishing with his father. Working on their big fishing boat may sometimes be dangerous, but it is always exciting. A few of Rick9s friends think that the work is hard, but Rick never complains. His father tells him that hard work helps young people build a strong character.

When Rick was young,he often watched the boats returning to port in the late afternoon. Sometimes he dreamed about owning his own boat—one even bigger than his father's—and visiting different countries. Mr. Liu liked his son's dream, but he told Rick not to dream too much. “Actions speak louder than words ,” he told his son.

Last June Rick graduated from high school, and he decided to live and work in Suao. He easily found a job working at a big fishing company there.
