There were two tribes in the Andes. They were always fighting each other. One tribe lived in the lowlands and the other lived high in the mountains. One day the mountain people attacked the lowlanders. They stole a baby from one of the lowland families and took him back up into the mountains.

The lowlanders didn ’ t know how to climb the mountain. They didn ’t know where to find the mountain people or how to track them.

Even so,they sent out their best fighting men to climb the mountain and bring the baby home. The men tried many ways of climbing. After several days of effort,however? they had climbed only 100 meters. Feeling hopeless,the lowlander men decided to return to their village. As they were packing up ? they saw the baby ’s mother walking towards them. They realized that she was coming down the mountain,which they hadn^, t figured out how to climb. And they saw that she had the baby on her back. How could that be?

One man said to her, “We couldn’ t climb this mountain. How did you do this when we? the strongest men in the village,couldn’t do it?”

The Red Cross

The Red Cross is one of the most famous signs in the world. It is the sign of the International Red Cross Society. They help people who were injured in a war or natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
