Today, most cars are powered by petrol(汽油). They make our lives easier. Two of the biggest problems are noise pollution and air pollution.
With the world’s population(人口) growing quickly, we have to think of ways to make cars that are better for the environment. One day, maybe you can help invent a clean car that makes people, animals, and plants happy! There are a few new types of cars that do not use petrol. We are still learning to make these cars better.
Electric cars: An electric car uses a battery(电池) for its power. When you are not driving it, just plug it in like a mobile phone to give the battery more power. Some electric cars are much cleaner than petrol cars.
Fuel cell(燃料电池) cars: Car makers are now learning about how fuel cells can be used to power cars. Fuel cells use hydrogen(氢气) and oxygen(氧气) to make power. The only waste gas they produce is clean water.
Solar(太阳能) cars: A solar car has large panels(嵌板) on its top that get power from the sunlight. The car holds that power in a battery. Solar cars might be the cleanest of all. But no one uses them, because solar panels can’t get enough power from the sun to make a car go for a long time. Also, they are very slow.
