【原文】
Orlando Campos and Joseph Cab-Gonzalez are two middle school students from North Carolina, U.S. Several weeks ago, when they were playing football near a church, they accidentally kicked the ball through a church window and broke it.
There were no people around, but instead of running away, they called the police and reported what had happened. They also visited the pastor (牧师) of the church and told him that they would pay for the broken window. They even offered to work in the church to make up for the damage they had caused.
Both the pastor and the police officer who had received the phone call were impressed by the two boys’ honesty. The police officer came to their school, had lunch with them and brought them a gift as an award for their honesty.
The school was proud of its students and gave them an award, too. This was to let the two boys know how much their honesty was appreciated.
No one told the two students what to do after they broke the window; they just did the right thing. They have won everyone’s respect for their honesty.
