【题目】People often ask me for suggestions about how to learn English. As for it, everyone is different. I’ll share some of my experience. I once took a school year English course in Wuhan University, but I mostly learned English on my own.

One thing I can tell you is that, once you’re started learning, you should try to think in English as much as you can. If you see something when you ’re riding your bike or walking down the street, just think about “How would I say then in English?”At first, it might be with simple words or phrases ,but later you should think about longer phrases and sentences. Now I am in America, and for most of the time, I would think in English and speak it directly. It is amazing how much this helps.

For several years after I started learning, I was often afraid of talking with others in English because I did not want to make mistakes. Finally I got it over. And while traveling in America, I’d try to hang out with friends who couldn’t speak Chinese, so that I’d have no choice but to speak English. And I also decided that if I said something stupid and other people laughed at me, then so be it. After that, my English started improving much more quickly.

Besides, it may be a good idea to ask your American friends to look at the way you’re writing, and give you some suggestions for improvement.

【题目】Millions of children around the world don’t have chances to get basic education, such as reading, writing andmathematics, and the problem is only getting worse. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, reports that 263 million children around the world are not in school. Teaching these boys and girls is a problem that researchers are trying to solve.

The Global Learning XPrize competition is looking for ways to help children teach themselves with only a tablet computer(平板电脑). What’s more, they are offering $15 million to find the best educational apps. In this way they can teach simple skills to people who have never attended school.

Keller told reporters that the plan is different from other ideas of education. “Traditional ways are mainly about building new schools and training new teachers,” he said. “There are many children who do not go to school. Can you develop something that’s so special and useful that you just give it to a child who cannot read in a very faraway part of the world – she picks it up, she touches it and she begins to learn how to read? And that’s the challenge that we put out to the world.”

About 200 teams entered the competition. And five teams of them were chosen. Each was given $1 million. The next step for these five teams is to field test their solutions. Google has given away 8,000 Pixel C tablets to children in 150 villages in the Tanga region of Tanzania. They will field test each team’s software in a period of 15 months. Whichever solution shows the highest achievement after that time will be the winner, receiving a prize of $10 million.

【题目】One day I got in a taxi, and we left for the airport. We were driving in the right lane (车道)when, suddenly, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver stopped his car at once. The tire(轮胎)made a very loud noise, and at the very last moment our car stopped just one inch from the black of the other car.

I was frightened. But then I couldn’t believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, turned his head and started yelling at us. I couldn’t believe it! But my taxi driver just smiled at the guy. So I asked, “why did you just do that? This guy almost sent us to hospital. ”

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call“The Law of the Rubbish Truck(垃圾车法则).”He explained that many people are like rubbish trucks. They run around full of rubbish, full of anger and full of bad feelings. As their rubbish piles(堆积)up, they look for a place to throw it away and sometimes they’ll throw it at you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their rubbish and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.

Successful people never let rubbish trucks change their moods. Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love those who love you and pray(祈祷)for those who don’t.

1Which of the following is NOT true according to the first paragraph?

A. The writer went to the airport by taxi that day.

B. The taxi driver stopped his car in time.

C. The black car jumped out and crashed into the taxi.

2The underlined word yelling in the second paragraph means ____ in Chinese.

A. 道歉 B. 傻笑 C. 吼叫

3Why did the guy get angry so easily?

A. Because he was in a bad mood.

B. Because his car was full of rubbish.

C. Because he was badly hurt by the taxi.

4From the passage, we can tell that the taxi driver is ____.

A. silly and dishonest B. wise and friendly C. helpful but nervous

5What does the passage mainly tell us?

A. Fight with people like rubbish trucks.

B. Don’t let rubbish trucks change our moods.

C. Have a quarrel with people like rubbish trucks.
