【题目】― Millie seldom watches action films. She finds them too noisy.

― ________. Such films are always full of violence(暴力).

A. Neither do IB. Neither I doC. So do ID. So I do

【答案】A

The government in China plans to end its one-child policy (政策) and let families have two children instead. The plan was meant to balance (平衡) population development and stop a falling birth rate (出生率).

China started the one-child policy in the 1980s. But the government allowed only a small number of couples to have two children. For example, some families in the countryside could have two children, if the first-born child is a girl. In 2013, the Chinese government gave other couples a chance to have two children if one of them was an only child.

Jiang Quanbao, a population expert, explained how Chinese families react to the newest policy. “Lots of young people in the cities are no longer interested in having a second child,” he said.

At the end of 2014, China had a population of 1.37 billion people. But the labor market population will drop in 35 years. That is to say, the country will be in great need of labor by the year 2050. With the “two children” policy, an increase in births can solve this problem.

1Why does the government plan to end the one-child policy?

A. Because we need a larger population.

B. Because millions of people have jobs.

C. Because most families want to have a second child.

D. Because a falling birth rate must be stopped.

2How do most young people in the cities react to the “two children” policy?

A. They support the policy. B. They don’t think it is good.

C. They’re very interested. D. They’re not interested.

3When will our country be seriously short of labor if the one-child policy continues?

A. In 2025. B. In 2035. C. In 2050. D. In 2070.

4What may happen after we have the “two children” policy?

A. There will be more old people.

B. The labor market population will drop.

C. Almost every family will have a second child.

D. The population development will be balanced.

【题目】Did you know that you could expect to live almost 20 years longer today than someone who was born 100 years ago?

Thanks to the development of science, life expectancy (预期寿命) in most countries has been increasing(增加,增长) for ten years. But researchers believe we have finally reached our biological limit (生理极限).

A report in the magazine Nature says it is almost impossible our life expectancy will increase again. The oldest person to ever live was a French woman Jeanne Calment, who was 122 when she died in 1997. The report says she will probably remain the oldest, because it is almost impossible that anyone will live over 115. The “absolute maximum age (绝对最大年龄)” may be 125, according to the report, but it is not very possible that anyone could actually live that long.

Jan Vijg at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York led the research. His team studied the age of people who had died in America, Britain, France and Japan. They found that the age of the oldest people dying had increased regularly between the 1960s and 1990s. But beginning in the 1990s, “you no longer see that,” Vijg told NPR. “You see that it stays the same.”

Of course, many scientists and companies are still trying to find ways to increase our lifespan (寿命) over 125. But there is one simple way to make sure you live a healthy and long life. “Stop smoking, start exercising and eat healthily,” Professor Dame Linda Partridge, told CNN. “What will be will be. It’s only a question of when.”

1What did researchers find?

A. The oldest age is increasing year by year.

B. People who were born 100 years ago usually live longer.

C. People now are not stronger than those born 100 years ago.

D. It’s almost impossible that human’s life expectancy will increase.

2The oldest person to ever live _____.

A. came from the US B. was a man

C. was 122 years old D. died 20 years ago

3According to the report, people may not live longer than _____ years old.

A. 115 B. 120 C. 122 D. 125

4Which of the following is true according to the article?

A. The research studied people from different countries.

B. The oldest age stayed the same from the 1960s to the 1990s.

C. With the development of science, people will live longer and longer.

D. If we live in a healthy way, we will definitely have a chance to live over 125.

5Professor Dame Linda Partridge suggests all of the following ways to live a long life EXCEPT _____.

A. stopping smoking B. taking special medicine

C. exercising regularly D. eating healthy food
