Ladies and Gentlemen. thank you very much for coming to this concert. I hope you have enjoyed the entertainment . As you may know, all the performers have donated their time to help us.

The purpose(目的) of this concert is to raise money for children in Africa. Every day hundreds of children in Africa die because they have diseases or have not had enough to eat.

There are two main reasons. First, there is no work for the children's parents, so they have no money to buy food or medicine. Second, the governments in many African countries do not have the money to take care of the poor.

Most African countries are poor. The land is not good for growing food and the weather is also bad for farming. There are many organizations trying to help these poor people. The organization we are trying to help, The Feed Africa Fund, spends millions of dollars dinner every year on food for poor people in Africa. This money comes from people like you- kind, generous people who do not want to see children die of hunger.

All the money you give this evening will go to The Feed Africa Fund. Just one

dollar can buy enough rice or corn to feed a family of four for three days. Think about it: only one dollar can feed four people for three days.

How much do you spend on food every day? Ten dollars? Twenty dollars? I am sure you can spend a little less on your own food so that you have a few dollars for The Feed Africa Fund.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we will now take a collection. Please be generous.

Hobbies can be the first teachers for many of life’s lessons. If you are collecting something as a hobby, it may be coins, stamps or what else interests you, you learn many things along the way. Kids can learn skills of their future work from hobbies.

So what are the best hobbies for kids?

Reading

If a child can lose himself or herself in a good book, they can find a whole new world without ever leaving the house! It is reported that readers do better than non-readers in school work and exams.

Arts and crafts (工艺)

Arts and crafts are also a great way for teaching kids the importance of using their own hands to create something from nothing.

Collections

Whether they are stamps, coins, baseball cards, model cars, ships, dolls, or whatever else interests your child. a collection is a great way to learn about people and places. Anything they choose to collect can be turned into an educational experience, important events and even all the social skills.

Music

This may not be ideal (理想的) for all kids as some people are naturally more musical than others. Yet if your kid enjoys singing or dancing, they can become great hobbies. Even learning a musical instrument is a good way to obey rules.

Sports and Games

Outdoor sports and indoor games are good for the complete development of a child s personality (品格). Speed, skill and teamwork are needed. This is a good hobby for any kid.
