【答案】Our Class have had a discussion about whether we can use mobile phones or not. They have different opinions.

Mobile phones is becoming more and more popular in our life. They make our life convenient and colorful. We can take photos with it. Some students like to listen to music. Besides, they can form a good relationship with their parents and friends.

However, other students have the opposite opinion. They think it is bad for students to use mobile phones. It is a waste of time playing mobile phones and it will affect their study. Some students chat with strangers and it may be dangerous.

In my opinion, students can use mobile phones when they are at home. But they should not use them at school.

【题目】If you know something is bad for you, why can't you just stop? About 70% of smokers say they would like to stop. Drug and alcohol abusers (酗酒者) struggle to give up the bad habits that hurt their bodies and destroy families and friendships. And many of us have unhealthy weight that we could lose if only we would eat right and exercise more. So why don't we do it?

Some scientists have been searching for answers. They've studied what happens in our brains as habits form. They've found answers to why bad habits, once formed, are so difficult to kick. And they're developing ways to help us make the changes we'd like to make.

Habits are a normal part of life, and are often helpful."We wake up every morning, shower, comb our hair or brush our teeth without being aware of it, "Volkow says. We can drive along familiar routes without really thinking about the directions."When behaviors become automatic(不加思索的),it gives us an advantage, because the brain does not have to perform the action on purpose."Volkow says. This frees up our brains to focus on different things.

One way to kick bad habits is to focus on your unhealthy habits. Then try your best to stop them. For example, habits can be linked in our minds to certain places and activities. You could develop a plan, say, to avoid walking down the hall where there's a candy machine. Try to avoid going places where you've usually smoked.Stay away from friends and situations linked to problem drinking or drug use.

Another helpful way is to replace unhealthy habits with new, healthy ones. "It doesn't work for everyone, "Volkow says. "But certain groups of patients who have a history of taking a drug can do something else like running and it helps them stay away from drugs."

【题目】A few years after I was born, a stranger appeared in our small town. Dad liked this attractive newcomer very much and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.

As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special position. Mom taught me how to tell good from bad, and Dad taught me to follow orders. But the stranger was our storyteller. He would keep us listening for hours with adventures, mysterious stories and comedies. If I wanted to know something about history or science, he always knew the answers. He knew about the past, understood the present and even seemed to be able to know what would happen in the future! With his help, my family even watched a national ball game for the first time.

Both my brothers and I enjoyed sitting around the stranger. He made us laugh; he made us cry, and he never stopped talking. Dad didn’t seem to mind. However , Mom thought he was too talkative. Sometimes she would go to the kitchen for peace and quietness.

My dad didn’t allow drinking, but the stranger encouraged us to try it. He also made us feel that smoking looked cool and manly. He talked freely (much too freely!).

Fifty years has passed since the stranger moved in and now I am fifty-four. I now know that my early childhood was strongly influenced by the stranger. Many times, he challenged the values of my parents, yet nobody stopped him or asked him to leave. What is his name? We just call him—”TV”. He has a younger sister now. We call her “computer”.

1Who was the storyteller in the family?

A. Mom. B. Dad. C. TV. D. Brother

2Why would Mom go to the kitchen while the rest of us were with the stranger?

A. Because the programs were not interesting.

B. Because she wanted to avoid the noise.

C. Because she didn’t like to be with her family.

D. Because she needed to cook for her family.

3From the passage, we know ____.

【题目】Working vacations are a popular way to see the world and a good way to make some money along the way. Bill Tyler, a reporter, talked with Jenny, who just came back from a working vacation in Australia.

Bill: So how was your trip?

Jenny: It was fantastic (奇异的) ! The place I went to--Mildura, in Victoria State is known as the gateway to the outback(内地). I was working at a vineyard(葡萄园) there, as a picker during the grape harvest. Most of the dried fruits in Australia like raisins (葡萄干) and so on, come from Mildura.

Bill: Was it hard work?

Jenny: Mm, yes, it was tiring and it got very boring sometimes. You have to spend around eight hours a day filling up buckets() with grapes. And it's a six-day week, usually with Saturday off. But the good thing is that you're working outdoors all the time. And you also get to make something really nice from all over the world.

Bill: So, do you have any suggestions for people who want to give it a try?

Jenny: Well, I'd suggest you only do it if you're quite healthy, and if you don't mind hot weather. Temperatures in Mildura can reach 25℃ sometimes, so you'll certainly need a sun hat. And don't forget a water bottle--it's thirsty work!

1If you like a working vacation you can not only travel, but also make some ______.

2Jenny thinks her trip in Mildura is______.

3It's really boring and ______ sometimes as a picker in the vineyard.

4You should be very ______ if you want to try the work.

5You should bring a sun hat and a water ______ because of the weather.
