【题目】 In the summer of 2015, Christian Moyer was just another teenager busy preparing for the SAT when he was faced with a question that he couldn’t answer. It had nothing to do with reading, writing or math. Anyhow, it has everything to do with life.

“We were looking at this part about the college writing, and one of the ideas was, ‘Tell us about a difficult situation you have had in life and how you got it over,”’ said Christian, now a 17-year-old student at University City High School. “And I realized how lucky I was not to have any problems in life.”

That is when the answer came through loud and clear. The idea for what to do next came from “Barefoot(光脚) Sunday”, a church event that asks members to wear new or gently used shoes to a service and leave them behind. The shoes are then donated(捐赠) to the charity that help people start over - people who are homeless and poor. Christian decided to start collecting shoes for the San Diego Rescue Mission, one of the “Barefoot Sunday” charities.

Then Christian got a tour to the downtown, there he saw some people would wear the same pair of shoes until there were no bottoms or tops on them. He thought what he did would really make a big difference for them.

Christians started collecting shoes last fall. He hit up friends, neighbors and family members for donations. He posted a note on an online social network. His family members put a box in front of their house for easy drop-off. Since starting his shoe drive, Christian has collected 160 pairs. Donating and collecting shoes have given him the kind of feel-good payback.

“Most people are pretty happy to give,” Christians said. “It’s nice because it makes them realize how many shoes they have that they don’t wear, and it probably makes them feel as good as it makes me feel.”

【题目】 Cold weather during winter months may keep many people from_____ home and running in the open air. _____, a new study shows _____the drop in temperature is a good reason to run. In fact, researchers say, running in cold weather _____improve one’s performance(身体机能). Many people say running in _______ winter is difficult. Two reasons are the low temperatures and strong winds. Yet many runners might find _____easier than running in hot weather. That could be because lower temperatures reduce stress on the body. When you run in cold weather, your heart rate is _____than in warmer conditions. Besides, the body needs less water _______a cold day than in warm weather. This information comes from John Brewer, a _______ scientist at St. Mary’s University in London. Brewer says every movement runners make produces heat. He explains that one way in which we lose heat _____by sweating, and that the body also loses heat by transporting the blood to the surface of the skin. But sweating puts much strain(张力)on the heart, particularly in hot conditions because it is______ harder to lose heat when the external environment is warm ______. In addition, running in higher temperatures results in faster heart rates. Scientists find that heart rates are about 6 percent higher in the hotter conditions. However, running in cooler temperatures has ______advantages. One is that the body does not have to work so hard to pump blood to the skin surface in cooler temperatures, which means running requires less energy. Several websites note that the most important thing for people ________run in cold conditions is to wear the right clothing. And especially, keeping as dry as possible is very important ____________ exercising in low temperatures.
