【解析】

本文讲述了如何树立积极地自我形象,学会爱自己,爱别人。

1句意:有时你会听到人们说,除非你爱自己,否则你不能指望别人爱你。

根据Either way, you’ve got to love yourself first不管怎样,你必须首先爱自己。由此可推断,前面的话总的来说都是要先爱自己,不能指望着别人来爱你。expect“期盼,指望”常用于“expect sb. to do sth”,故选E

【题目】Read the passage and answer the following questions. ( 根据短文内容完整回答下列问题):

Every child has a dream of what they want to be, right? When Renee Butts was young, her dream was to become a volunteer firefighter because her father was one. Sadly, when she was 14, her father died and was never able to volunteer with her. Renee’s story doesn’t end there. Finally she becomes a good firefighter.

Some days she must be ready to deal with any emergency (紧急事件), like fighting a fire, dealing with a car accident or helping someone who is sick. Other days she is in the driver’s seat. Sometimes Renee works nine to eleven days a month on 24-hour shifts. She also has a family to take care of. Her husband is a firefighter, too. Renee remembers the first time when she fought a fire. She was awoken early on a winter morning by the alarm. She said she was very nervous but did what she had to do.

When I asked Renee what the best part of her job was, she replied, “Helping people and saving their lives. ” I think that shows signs of being a true hero (英雄). She’s always glad to do anything for anyone in trouble. With 140 people in her station, Renee is one of the only three women.

I think she’s great. We could never live without people like her who are glad to help others. Renee’s deed helps me believe that I can do anything. I hope some day to be just like her: always be ready to help people in trouble every day.

1What was Renee’s dream?

2Does her dream come true?

3She needs to be ready to deal with a car accident, doesn’t she?

4When did she fight a fire for the first time?

5How many women are there in her station?

【题目】 A mouse and a frog were friends. Every morning the frog would jump out of his pond and go to visit his friend who lived in a hole in the side of a tree. He would return home at noon. The mouse was happy to have his friend’s company(陪伴) but he didn’t realize(意识到)that his friend was slowly turning into an enemy. The reason is that the frog felt unfair because he visited the mouse every day but the mouse never visited him.

One day, the frog had an idea. When it was time for him to take leave of (辞别)the mouse, he tied one end of a string around his own leg, tied the other end to the mouse’ s tail, and went away with the mouse behind him. The frog dived deep into the pond. The mouse tried to free himself but couldn’t, and soon was dead in water.

A hawk saw the mouse floating on the ponds surface. He swooped down(俯冲), caught the mouse and flew to the branch of a nearby tree. The frog, of course was pulled out of the water too. He tried to free himself, but couldn’ t and became the hawk’s food soon.

In Africa, they have a saying: Don’t dig too deep a pit(深坑)for your enemy, because you may fall into it yourself.
